Using Apple headphones to control Spotify

Using Apple headphones to control Spotify

Iphone EarPods controls do not work with the Spotify mobile app.  Is this really an issue Spotify cannot figure out and solve?  Seems like I pay $10 a month for a 'premium' service it should really be 'premium' service.  This is awful...what a joke.

Spotify supports the use of your EarPods controls for pausing, skipping and volume up and down. I use JBL Reflect's for the same purpose with the same purpose 🙂

Do the volume up and down controls work? This should be the case as these work regardless of the functionality of the iPhone app but just sets the general volume of the iPhone up or down.
What's a Spotify Rock Star?

thx Ivan92,

yes those functions work.  There's just no skipping songs or any of the other double or tripple touch functions work.

Good morning!

I have been looking on the web and I found one thing that I thing is worth trying.

1. Remove any dust from the headphone jack by blowing some air in to it. Some people on the Web advice to do this with a skewer but be careful not to press too hard.

hahaha this isn't a nintendo system from 1988...but in all seriousness i did try that and no luck. Are you saying that skipping songs using the double tap function should work? I have an iPhone 6 and it most certainly does not work. Just wondering if it's suppose to or if there's something I'm doing wrong (besides blowing in the jack).
thanks

It's not? I had a similar problem with my iPhone 5 (or 4?) a few years ago and fixed it this way haha.

I have an iPhone 6 too and the skipping function works great. Too bad it doesn't work with your device 😞

So, you are able to skip or Foreward using the JBL Reflect's?

I have exactly the same issue I absolutely love Spotify but not being able to skip songs in 2017 is ridiculous. Spotify should be able to fix this issue quickly. Apple Genius Bar said it is a matter of Spotify fixing the settings on their app.

You should be able to click twice on the middle button, then the volume up.  this should skip to the next song.

on the apple headphones: middle click, middle click, volume up.

Guys, just take needle or thin pliers or something and carefully pry out all dust from the port. I've noticed the jack does not go in all the way so I cleaned out the port and voila... Don't be so quick with attacking Spotify 😉

*deleted* working now

This did it for me, thanks!

Hi! I had the same problem, then found this tool that able to stop iTunes from coming automatically. Then you can play/ pause spotify.

Here's the link

There's also more advanced solution, as it enables you to control other app/ sites using media key (not only spotify). Link

Just delete spotify and redownload again. That worked for me
