Very Slow Downloading to Phone

Solved!

Very Slow Downloading to Phone

Spotify has slowed to a snails pace at downloading songs to my iphone 4s. I made sure that I didn't have it set to EXTREME sound quality and still it is VERY slow almost painful to even use. Will have to reconsider using Spotify if this keeps up.

Hi,

Welcome to the Community. Is this happening when downloading over 3G and WiFi? Have you tried downloading from a different WiFi connection?

Who's your Spotify Star?

Takes 5 minutes per song to download to phone. This is totally unacceptable.

Hello - No need to make new threads, we're right here!

Could you let us know how exactly you're syncing?
Airhorn Enthusiast

I am synching over wifi network at home.. iphone 4s. Most recent update...

Having the same problem myself.

Have had this problem for the last 3 spotify updates at least.

I have a 25Mbit wifi connection which is more than sufficient, but still the spotify sync takes over 4 mintues per song downloading. Live streaming is working just fine.

Also, when connected to wifi, and the phones power is plugged in, it stops syncing after 10 minutes or so.
I though the phone didn't turn of wifi when connected to power?

I'm syncing in Extreme quality, with spotify turned on on my desktop. Why don't you sync from the desktop to the phone? I have the same playlists "offlined"

I realize the same - extremely slow sync to the iPhone.  I have Still more than 500 songs to sync and since I started a "while ago" only 18 are synced while writing.

I have an excellent Wifi connexion allowing HD TV and use of of the computer, so it has nothing to do with that.  I tried over 3G too, but still very slow.  So I simply conclude that songs are slow to "pull" out of your servers.  Whether straight syncing independently on the iPhone or having the desktop application running doesn't seem to make a difference.  So I confirm....why so slow sync from the PC to the iPhone ... just as if there was nothing to recover from the PC ???

I will now force my iPhone not to enter sleep mode and leave it over night on the charger syncing...

David --

This is the second thread in which you enter, seemingly to help, and then disappear as soon as other people offer their experiences regarding the same issue. Are the folks at Spotify doing anything to help out these paying subscribers? Or are they pretending? It is rather annoying to pay $10 a month and not have you hold up your end (ie. Offline Playlists). It is time to admit that there is nothing wrong on our end - no need to try different Wifi networks, etc. Something needs to be done on yours!

Best,

Alex

I am having the same problem. As I have read in other threads, the sync feature & playlists being available offline is one of the main reasons I subscribed. I too will definitely reconsider if this is not resolved. I have plugged in my phone charger while the playlists are being synced, as I read to do here, and have changed the settings to "Extreme." It seems like this is a common problem and something that should be looked into. At this rate, I'm looking at 2-3 minutes per song. It's going to be a looong 921 tracks!

Having the exact same issue. Trying to sync over wifi on a 100Mbps corporate connection, makes no difference whether or not the charger is plugged on. Tried all quality modes too and no joy.

Im having the same problem, and its totally ridiculos!

FYI, I have had this problem with my iPod Touch for a while now, but I've put up with it since I couldn't live without Spotify. I just bought a Nexus 7 however, and syncing is TONS faster on it, which goes to show it's something up with the software on iOS. Very odd, but hopefully it will help for Spotify to know this problem is definitely local to iOS and not a network problem.

Does SPotify actually check the amount of threads and remarks that are currently open with regards to the slow downloading to ios devices? I have had this now for so long (more than a couple of weeks) that I will not extend my subscription anymore. This is ridicilous! You really want me to go back to iTunes? I hope many people join me in this quest. Spotify, FIX IT!

yep same for me, i got spotify today and am downloading just two playlists and its taken me about half an hour and there are two songs that dont appear to have downloaded yet i cant seem to download individual songs.

I'm having the same problem right now, my Iphone is syncing like 300 songs and in 1 hour only 8 of them are synced. Can somebody tell me something about that?, It's an Spotify problem?.

Thanks.

Alexcore-

Where did that David (Moderator) disappear to? This is dropping the fun a lot. I have the same experience on my nexus 4, all very, very slow. Will spotify respond to us or not? It starts making me angry, really. We pay for that service.

Had the same issue yesterday, then I remembered Spotify doesn't like concurrent access to the same account at the same time from different clients - for obvious reasons.

After quitting the Desktop client (maybe just stopping the playback would have sufficed) the download speed to the phone (in my case Android) was back to normal!

Michael

since one week downloading songs on my iPhone 6 is very slow on two different very efficient wifi networks... any suggestion?... (maximum audio quality never gave me this problem before)

thank you

Same issue with an iPhone 7... Had the phone for weeks now and still hasn't downloaded my library

I'm having really slow downloads as well. Admittedly my wifi is slow 1mbps, however I started downloading songs about 6 hours ago and only 18 have downloaded. In the past I've been using Apple Music, and on that service o was able to download songs at a rate of about 5 minutes a song. This is looking more like 20 minutes a song. This is unacceptable and I will be returning to Apple Music once my subscription has ended.
