As of Spotify 8.9.xx and newer I can't control the volume on my iPhone when casting to a Chromecast device. I need to go into the slider inside the Spotify app to change the volume.
This is not an iOS or apple issue:
My non working version of Spotify is 8.9.16.556 and just today updated to 8.9.18.xx which has the same bug.
On another iPhone a WORKING version of Spotify is 8.9.14.526
The latter works perfectly fine. It is not a iOS problem but a Spotify bug!
Both iPhones run iOS 17.3.1
If this is not being actively solved by Spotify I'm sorry to say I will cancel my subscription and change to Tidal. This is a CORE functionality.
I’m experiencing the similar issues. When I play music from my iPhone to my speakers using Bluetooth the hardware volume buttons on my iPhone work fine, but when I play music from my iPhone to my speakers using WiFi then the hardware volume buttons on my iPhone doesn’t work anymore. It’s really annoying to adjust the volume using the software slider inside the Spotify app every time. How to fix this?
I know that there is an issue with BOTH iOS and Android "not being compatible" with Spotify now...even though we PAY for a subscription and Spotify NEVER sent out notification to anyone that volume control was being remove, which is a pretty significant issue for a MUSIC APP.
So my question is, how the **bleep** are we suppose to control volume for Spotify now that you've taken away the volume control?!
I'm not renewing Spotify because of this but since I paid for the subscription a year in advance I have this useless app until the end of the year.
There's got to be SOME way to control the volume? Right. Why are there no volume controls within the app itself?
Hello @whatever138!
Thanks for coming to the Spotify Community. I'll try to help.
Spotify now relies on your phone’s volume buttons or system media controls (like Control Center on iOS or notification shade on Android).
If you're casting to another device (like a speaker or TV), you'll need to adjust volume on that device or its app.
You can also adjust the overall level for your environment. Next to Volume level, choose from:
Hope this helps and have a nice day!
Why not give the end user an option to select this "function"? Normally i can use my volume buttons on an Android device to change my receiver it's volume.
If you can make it so both functions are optional and let endusers switch to the one they prefer it would be lovely.
Kind regards,
Danny
How is this still not fixed? this really sucks for the user experience!
Translation: Spotify have made so many redundancies that we no longer have enough competent developers to fix critical bugs. But please continue to subscribe as we, the owners, have been so swallowed up by greed that we don’t want to change our lifestyle.
p.s. Have you tried turning it off and on again?
STILL not fixed.
