My Question or Issue

While I am playing music from the app on my iPhone over the phone’s intrinsic speaker, if the screen locks (goes dark), when I wake it up (Lock Screen shows), the volume drops by half. I’ve noticed it also happens when I minimize Spotify to switch to a browser window.
I disabled Enable Audio Normalization in Settings, but no change. Help! Thanks.

Thanks for the info folks!

We'll need even some more details so we can hopefully report this to the right team and they can do a further investigation. Please send us the following:

  • Exact Spotify-version you're using
  • Exact iOS-version and iPhone model
  • If this happens with another Spotify-account on the same device
  • If the issue persists with a different Internet connection

We appreciate the cooperation 🙂

literally it’s so annoying there’s nothing i can do to fix it like i’m about to connect headphones and blast it as loud as i can to hear it without the volume moving itself its sooooo irritating i’m gonna go insane

Hey there @billieeilishx,

Thanks for posting here and welcome.

Just to confirm, have you tried some of the troubleshooting steps mentioned in this thread? If you haven't, we'd recommend performing a clean reinstall of the app. That way, Spotify can be up-to-date, and you can make sure the stored cache is not leading to the volume lowering.

As mentioned above, if this happens only when the phone's battery is low, make sure you turn off Low Power Mode, restart your device, and check if you notice any difference.

If the above doesn't do the trick, we'd like to gather some additional info. Please send us:

  • The make/model and OS of the affected device.
  • The exact Spotify version you're running.
  • A video recording. You can attach the video to your next reply in mp4 format, or upload it to YouTube or Google Drive and make it public.

Keep us in the loop!
