I’d like Siri support so I can start playback of a playlist for example with a given phrase
I would rather use Spotify than Apple Music, the predictions and curated playlists are far better on Spotify. But the ability to request music using voice commands as I drive is a safety issue, and I can do that with Apple. So I switched about a year ago and took my whole family with me. You aren’t the only one.
Looks like Spotify finally replied with a "Not Right Now" Verdict.

Well then, guess I'm going to be replying to Spotify with a "not right now" on my subscription.
I really enjoy Spotify much more than Apple Music, but their inability to commit to developing the features that the iOS community ask for tells me they simply don't care.
That's exactly where I am. I like Spotify better than Apple Music, but they are too far behind in a couple key integration areas. So, "not right now."
Yeah it's silly. They support Amazon Alexa, Google Assistant and Cortana. But not Siri Shortcuts!? Sort of Absurd for them to say "not right now". And even though Spotify and Apple have had a bad relationship legally, what about all their customers that they alienate when it comes to features such as this.
My only work around has been to use the URI command system for "Spotify voice" and that's if you even have it.
@StuPastuAll this shortcut does is launch spotify to the Spotify voice mode useing a simple URI command execution.
spotify:voice-assistant
These are the steps when creating the shortcut in shortcuts app.
1: Select URL
2: Input in the URL: spotify:voice-assistant
3: Select Open X-Callback URL
4: Add a Siri Phrase like: "Play Music"

Keep in mine not eveyone has spotify voice yet but if you do this can be a quick simple solution 🙂
If you don't have spotify voice try this one mentioned on reddit as well. This one uses Spotify Web API

Thus far that's my only solution. It works for me but not those who don't have the feature yet*
Thanks @ParentalControl
I'll take a look at that. I don't have Spotify Voice yet unfortunately but with some tweaking I might be able to get the other one working decently.
Just sucks that we have to resort to hacking these together.
