Why are so many features removed?

I finally decided to give Spotify a try.   Looking around the internet it appeared to have a lot of features I liked.   Ability to add iTunes playlist, then I discovered that was removed.   A Roku app, then I discovered it was removed.   The ability to use Spotify connect without an internet connection, then I discovered it was removed.   Is this common, why are so many features removed?

I understand Spotify wanting to try out new features, but WHY do they keep removing popular features that everyone likes?

It makes no sense.
