Why is the Kids app so low quality?

I'd say that the Spotify Kids app is very low quality.

Views will randomly not load resulting in meltdowns from my kids who really don't understand how an app can be broken that often.

Besides that lots of features are missing that would make it actually nice to use.

Is there any development happening here? Can we anticipate any improvement?

If only it was just the low quality code. 

Spotify Kids has no proper content control, they want us to relay to them the task of curating what our kids will be exposed to. This "you need to play something first before being able to block it" is downright preposterous. And it did not start to stink recently, they had 3 years to fix it. It's a business decision.
