iOS Now playing time info disappeared

The spotify app continues to update and innovate on a weekly basis but the removal of vital information from the top of the screen during the now playing screen has really taken it a step backwards. I expect it will be justified as it could be seen to simplify the screen BUT it really detracts from the user experience not being able to see vital information about your phone; time, whether you have signal, BATTERY LIFE!! All essential and suddenly gone.
