The new iOS 0.5.8 update has killed the iPad app. Even after reinstall it constantly crashes. What's going on?
I'm running iOS 6.0.1 on the 4th generation iPad.
Spotify can't seem to get their act together...
New update also kills the people tab on the iPad.
When clicking on the people tab, friends are shown for a few seconds and then the list disappears.
This happens on every re-launch. There is no way to get the people list to show for more than 3 seconds.
Also after clicking on settings and clicking on a settings menu on the iPad, the settings back arrow is cut off at the top.
My music experience has been ruined by these bugs.
UPDATE:
I was able to use the app for a while -- notice the other bugs I found -- and after downloading playlists for offline use, the app started crashing.
Looks like downloading any playlist for offline use will constantly crash the app until you reinstall the app.
The most used feature on the iPad app constantly crashes the app?
What...? Updates need more testing before going live.

I think it is important to split this topic up here:

At the beginning the topic was, that the app crashes constantly on the iPad (at the start). The Playlist issue is a hole other thing because it is possibly a server issue. The app crashing at the start is on the other hand a serious software error!
Hi, my IPad 2, crashes at startup, but eventually after retrying some times it opens, and then it crashes at a fixed point in the scrolling through playlists..... So I don't agree that it's two different things, if it is, it's obviously possible to have both problems with one device at the same time.
New up is completely non function on ipad 3. Crashes on opening and or searching. I read earlier customer support could not reproduce the errors. You don't have to. If 50 people tell you the same thing, then accept your update is broken and just fix it. I am a prem member so now I am paying for nothing.

App crashing when I connect it to download my playlists/local files from my Mac.
A more detailed description, using numbered steps
1. Updated to the latest version (0.5.8)
2. Opened Spotify
3. It crashed
4. Deleted Spotify
5. Installed it
6. Tried connecting it to download my local files.
7. Crashes
8. Does this some more times and try to connect with both Spotify details anf Facebook.
9. Delete the app again
10. Restart my iPad
11. Try to download
12. Do step 9-12 again
13. Deletes all my cookies/history in Safari.
14. Try again.

Same here. Crash on start. Have 3GS (ios6), iPad 2 (ios6) and iPad 3 (ios5). Same problem on all devices.
Crash on start. I' m getting tired of this problem.
iPhone now appears to be fixed - althoguh playlist folders are a bit of a mess, but iPad just crashes on opening so still got an issue with this version of the app, have upgraded iPad SW and this still hasn't fixed the problem

Got in touch with support via contact page on website.
They 'adjusted' my playlists - still not working.
got in touch again...
reinstalled spotify app, via itunes (as recommended) now working again, altho' I'm having to resync all tracks... a bit of a pain, but, at least its working again.. so, I'm happy.
SAME ISSUE AS ALL THOSE MENTIONED ABOVE....I am a fitness instructor and have all my playlists for my cycle classes on spotify...while teaching class the other evening, I was NOT even able to open spotify on the new ipad...grrrr...luckily I had an old CD that I was able to use for class...just tried fixing the issue and as all those above mentioned, deleted the app, reinstalled, etc...same problem. I have about 50 playlists but am only trying to sync 5 of them, programs keeps crashing....PLEASE help...user name is1212695418...and on another note, how can I change that....thanks!!!! PLEASE PLEASE fix this......

iPhone first started to have the "scrolling" issue in the playlists that caused crashes. Now, after having tried clearing browser/cookies, rebooting and reinstalling, spotify just no longer works on my iphone 4s. I try to open the app, but it immediately crashes.

1. tried to scroll in playlists
2. app crashed. Repeated 1. and 2. a couple of times.
3. Looked for clues on internet. decided to clear browser caches/history, delete app, reboot, and reinstall app.
4. tried restarting spotify, get to the login, login via facebook. Had to try it twice but it then worked.
5. As soon as I touched the playlists tab, the app crashed.
6. Now I try to reopen the app and it just immediately crashes after launch.

For it to work as it always did before.

I have deleted all my playlists and created a new from my PC and I can play it on my Iphone.
But when I try to create a playlist on my Iphone, Spotify crashes right away.
Same issue. I just deleted all my old playlists and created a few new ones. Now Spotify crashes every time I hit the playlists tab. IPad only. Seems OK on iPhone.
Hopefully Spotify can release a fix soon. We are getting tired of waiting.
