My Question or Issue

I cannot download my local files to my phone. I have walked through the basics given in other forums. I have even done a clean uninstall on my iPhone. In the playlist it skips the download of some songs and not others, leaving some greyed out. When I check the favorites playlist the songs that are greyed out now show a red download symbol. No forum post seems to talk about it. After a clean install again, I have verified it is the same songs that are unable to download. I'm not sure what to do next

Found out that the folders of music I had were mixed with MP3 and MP4A files (named the same title) so Spotify was mixing songs up and unable to play my music. I cleared the extra data and the issue has been resolved.

Yep, same on Android.  I see 16 tracks available as local files.  My phone has hundreds.  And it worked fine a cpl wks ago.

Hey there @kailohpm and @davjos99!

There are a few other things that we can check to make sure we've covered all basic steps.

To start with, you'll need to make sure that the files can be played on your PC, so that you'd be able to successfully sync them to mobile.

@davjos99, it sounds like you're using the feature locally on your phone. Can you let us know if you've tried any troubleshooting and if you're able to sync any files between a PC and your phone?

Then, it might be be a good idea to remove all the local files you've uploaded on the app and try syncing them again. It can be helpful to create new folders with the files and connect those.

If everything looks okay on desktop you should be able to add the local songs to playlists and download them to your phone as well. Make sure that you've switched on Enable sync from desktop and that your firewall doesn't block Spotify.

Keep us in the loop here!

I have checked the PC. All files play there. I have resynced and moved the files to a new folder and no changes. The phone still shows the red download symbol under songs. I have no VPN active when trying to sync and those changes nothing.

Hi @kailohpm!

Could you try the following:

  1. Download the playlist on your PC and keep Spotify open.
  2. On your phone, clear the Spotify app's cache and data, then restart your mobile device.
  3. Once your phone boots back up, open Spotify, log in to your account and download the playlist again.

In case the issue persists, send over a screenshot from your phone so we can see how things look on your end.

Cheers!
