My Question or Issue

Weird glitch that I have been experiencing for month already. One update fixes it, the next Update brings it back:

Band names (not the Text in the App itself though) are Shown in the japanese Alphabet, so The Band Muse would be shown as ใƒŸใƒฅใƒผใ‚น, FKA Twigs becomes FKA ใƒ„ใ‚คใƒƒใ‚ฏand so on.

My iPhone is German, System Language is German, App Store is Germanโ€ฆ

I do have the Japanese and the Chinese Keyboard installed though.

So I checked App Language AND iPhone Language, both are set to German. Switched to English, Japanese, back to German - Nothing helps. The App will change Language as selected, artist names will still appear in the Japanese Alphabet.

Anyone ever experienced something like this?

Hey everyone! I removed the japanese keyboard from my iPhone-โ€š settings. Funny, I googled a japanese sentence and seno it to a friend and my iPhone just added Japan as a preferred region in my settings. Wellโ€ฆ ๐Ÿ˜‰

In the end I reinstalled the app and that fixed it.

I've had the same problem, except both my iPhone and Spotify were in portuguese. I tried all methods here and more (changing the language of the app, changing iPhone language priorities (my phone had 1-portuguese, 2-japanese, 3-english), removing the japanese keyboard, updating the app) and nothing worked (I was changing the app language back and forth every time I tried something new to see if it would have any effect and it didn't.

The way I got it to work was by removing keyboard and language support for japanese (I'm not sure if this is necessary but I did it because I was trying the other methods), uninstalled the app, restarted my phone and installed it again. After installing and confirming that it was fixed, I added the japanese keyboard again and spotify still looks fine for me.

I use spotify on an android phone, 2 computers and on my TV and only the iPhone app had this glitch

My Question or Issue

Some artist names are written in Japanese, I tried to change the language setting to Italian and English but nothing changed, I also tried to uninstall and reinstall the app but again nothing

The artists are:

And a lot more

Device: iPhone 13 mini

OS: iOS 18.4.1

Spotify-Version: 9.0.40.506

I have the same issue. Some, not all, artists are displayed in Japanese characters. Seems to affect mostly internationally known artists. This affects only the display of the artists name. Search for the Name in Latin characters works and returns the right artists, but the results are displayed in Japanese characters.
My system settings are German. Keyboard languages are English and German only.

I would appreciate a quick solution.

The artists in manny of the songs are shown in Japanese, although they were in English before. For example โ€œHans Zimmerโ€ is now written in Japanese in every of his songs. The song title is displayed correctly, just the artist is in Japanese.

Can someone help me with this?

Also when playing on my Denon AVR Spotify randomly skips to the next song, so sometimes I just get to hear a few seconds, sometimes half a song, but mostly not a whole songโ€ฆ

Bonjour, jโ€™ai effectuรฉ ce que vous avez dit mais impossible les noms dโ€™artistes sont toujours en japonais. Une autre idรฉe ?

Hey folks,

Thanks for your reports again.

Can you please go to Settings > Apps > Spotify > Language and then send us a screenshot of what you see there? Itโ€™d also be handy if you could go to Settings > General > Language & Region and send a screenshot of that too.

Cheers,

Hi @MihailY,

Your wish be my command ๐Ÿ˜‰

Same pb here. My last name is japanese, I thought that might be why (although far-streched, i admit), but still no answerโ€ฆ

  1. Tried it without solving the problem ๐Ÿ˜ฃ

Version 9.0.40.506 - problem could not be solved

In my case MihailY pointed in the right direction. In the language settings of iOS was Japanese set as additional language. Not as default, that was still German. I still donโ€™t know how that happened - I did not set up the second/alternative language myself as I donโ€™t speak Japanese.

After deleting Japanese in the System settings, it took a while but now it is displaying the artists in Latin Characters again. ๐Ÿ™‚

I think itโ€˜s enough to open some websites that have japanese letters.

i have Thai as a preferred language even though I just been there for vacation.

For me it also suddenly works again but I think Spotify did some changes on their side, because I didnโ€˜t do anything.

Deleting japanese as a preferred language would also not have been an option in my case because japanese is indeed a preferred language on my phone.

Really annoying when I try to use the Japanese name to search the song
