10 hours gone

Solved!

10 hours gone

It's the 1st of August, I logged onto Spotify for the first time this month, haven't played a single track yet.

But my 10 hours is already gone. Why is that?

e: I do not share this account with anyone.

Hi, and welcome to the community!

How long have you been playing it this week? As please note you can only play 2.5h per week (and it's thursday, so it's been 3 days this wek even if it's the first of the month), meaning you never have to wait for more than a week to listen to music again 🙂

Ah. That would make sense.

Thanks.

Hi - I too have the same problem. I have not played a single track, yet Spotty shows me as having no minutes left. Is there a glitch with August??

What happens if you try playing a track?

There have been a few reports of this, you might want to check out the web player and see if it works for you!:

Thanks - it is mysteriously all Ok now.  Yesterday, there was a message across the top of the page saying I had exceeded my ten hours for the month, and a progress bar of zero to 10, showing filled in red. Also, all tracks were greyed out. All of that has gone this morning. So I think there WAS a glitch, but Spotty have sorted it.

Hi I also have heard perhaps 5 songs and the 10 hours are gone.

will try again tomorrow. Strange that spotify does not help via email or chat: so out and more 1.0 web

To clear up the confusion, each week you'll get 2.5 hours, up to a maximum of 10 hours per month. But unless you're listening to 5 really long songs, you shouldn't hit that limit. Could you try logging out and in?

We do also have an email contact form here.

Hello Everyone,

I have opened Spotify for the first time this month and after maybe 35 seconds in a song the music stopped and a message tells me I've exceeded my 10 hour monthly limit.

For one thing I was never told there was any such limit and secondly how could I have played 10 hours of music if I only have spotify on my pc at work and am back from holidays just now?

I would much appreciate a prompt and satisfying reply, because if I can understand that you have decided to put a limit to what you give us for free (plus advertising) I would expect to know this happened before it is forced upon me. There must surely be a bug that miscalculates the available free time.

Thanks in advance for your assistance

F.

There has always been a limit after the first six months and details are in this FAQ. Probably the terms and conditions cover this too but you'll have to read through those.

Try logging out and back in to see if that helps. If it doesn't try seeing if the web player will work. If you read the post immediately above yours, it explains that the 10 hours is actually 2.5 hours a week.

Thanks jwylot,

I'm sure you are right about the limit always being there and maybe I did not read the terms and conditions with enough attention once I joined Spotify. Even if the 10 hours are actually 2.5 hours a week having used Spotify last time on July 30th I am still left wondering how I could have used the available air time if I did not use it at all between July 30th and August 11th.

I must say that many members have been trying to help me out, but no one from the assistance ever got back to me yet.

If you used the contact form and got an automated reply, replying to it usually speeds things along even though it's from a "no reply".

Not sure I got your point. Are you suggesting I write back to them from my email?

Indeed.

Thank you, will do so. 🙂

I just finished my 6 month free period. My 10 hours have now been used up, but that was over a week ago ( I didn't make note of definitely when but it is definitely more than one week)

How can I rectify this ?

Thanks

Unfortunately there is no way to see how much time you have, but you should get 2.5 hours every 7 days so you never have to go without music for more than a week. Often a log out and back into the client can trigger a refresh.

Some people have also reported they get no/less restrictions when they use the web player
