My Question or Issue

After I got five "sponsored recommendations" in five days, I needed to disable those permanently, and found that this could be done by accessing account settings via the browser version of Spotify.  However, the settings page (https://www.spotify.com/au/account/overview/) is very difficult to use.  When I go to that link, it briefly loads, but then the page gets locked up.  The scrollbar disappears, and it becomes impossible to scroll with the wheel, arrow keys, or Page Down key.  From using the console, this seems like it's triggered by a piece of code setting the html style to "overflow: hidden", which pops up exactly when the problem kicks in.  I was able to get around it by tabbing my way down through the buttons, to access the privacy settings (which are too low in the list to be visible from the top of the screen).

The same problem affects the Privacy Settings page (https://www.spotify.com/au/account/privacy/).  The page loads, then becomes locked a half-second later, unable to scroll down to the bit where I actually get to turn off the ads.

I tried disabling all extensions and accessing the page in a private window; no difference.  This was with FireFox; the issue did not occur when accessing the page with Chrome.

Is this an intended behaviour?

Hi there @_fj1-gf6lbp3h,

Thanks for reaching out!

Can you check if there are any pending browser updates and install them if any? It's also worth setting Firefox as your default browser to see if that makes a difference. Can you also try deleting the browsing data: Open Firefox > Settings > Delete Browsing Data > Delete all? If you're using a VPN, you can also try disabling it.

Let us know how it goes.

Hi there Dessi,

No updates pending.  Firefox is the default browser.  No VPN.  I would prefer not to delete my browsing data, I don't want to have to dig up my passwords and repopulate my autocomplete addresses.

The behaviour of the affected pages hasn't changed.

Cheers,

Joe

Hi there @_fj1-gf6lbp3h,

Thanks for the reply.

It should be possible in your browser's settings to clear only the data, cache and cookies for a specific website. Please try and do so by clearing all Spotify related cookies and testing if that fixes the issue.

Hope this helps.
