My Question or Issue

Why is the family plan excluded from the offer?  Only the base premium plan gets the Google home mini? That is complete BS.  Every other Country the family plan was eligible

And the response from contacting them by email is equally dismissive (and
probably a copy/paste from legal).

I think I've seen that message a few times now.

By the way, if you're on a Samsung Phone you might be able to get Google Play Music for free for 3 months.

"You're right that the GHM promo in Canada is not offered with Premium for Family subscribers - this is offered only to users paying $9.99 CAD/month for Spotify Premium, but please be reminded that we've given Premium for Family owners a chance to change their subscription during the promo period to keep things fair and so they could also take advantage of the promo in their area."

Makes sense right? Reduce you payment, reduce your service, PO your
customer base (at lrast those with families) and get free stuff.

I actually sent them a reply expressing my dissatisfaction with the form
reply, they sent a "sorry you feel that way, but each reply is individually
written" email. 🙄

And get the same canned response they have posted here.

Sorry, we don't care. We will be sure to pass along your distaste for our
corporate stupidity to the people who came up with the stupid idea and
don't care either.

If there is anything else we can't help you with, please feel free to waste
your time sending us another email that we will respond to with the same
unhelpful canned response.

No acknowledgment of the issues I pointed out
No mea culpa
No explanation for why only Canadian families are excluded (every other
country allows Family plans to receive the GM)
No Empathy or promise of action.

Very much appreciated. Thankfully, money talks and this money will also be
walking (to a company that appreciates it's customer base and families).

Honestly, I don't get it. they rolled it out in other countries, but not for Canada. Why do this and what are they thinking?

The offer is over.

The issue, I believe, is somebody wasn't thinking. I suspect some bean
counter wanted to save a few bucks and made a corporate decision without
input which put them in a bind. Admit the mea cupla and include families
like literally every other Spotify enabled country or try and ignore it and
hope the families don't make a fuss.

If there is a legit reason (some legal roadblock from Google or the Cdn
Govt for example) then freaking say so. At least that would make sense.
This "Sorry you feel that way. Too bad, so sad" corporate
(ahem..."individual" response that is exactly the same for every single
person) push back just makes Spotify look like a bunch or idiots.

For all that is good and holy (too much GoT recently) somebody in their
marketing department should be able to come up with a more client friendly
explanation. It's not like we don't have Internet access and can see that
every other Spotify enabled country is getting treated better than Canadian
Family subscribers. It's not even Canadians in general, it is JUST Family
subscribers.

If for no other reason, think about it from a Corporate perspective. A
family plan initiates a connection for multiple individuals to a given
service. When the family members grow up and move out, they are more likely
to continue with a service they know/like than experiment elsewhere. So now
you've had the income from the Family plan and you'll also get the
student/regular plan. As those individuals expand their own family circle,
they can recommend the service that has provided excellent service and/or
sign up for family plans for their families..

Or you could PO a bunch of people now who then go out and switch services
or, at the very least, remember how the service **bleep** them over. When
someone asks about said service, the disgruntled family members will talk
about what they didn't like rather than what they did like (statistically
and scientifically proven numerous times).

other companies have pursued the short term gain, long term pain route (if
thats what this is) and not done well by it. As someone smarter than me
once said (paraphrasing), if we do not learn from our past mistakes we are
doomed to repeat them.

I have a regular recurring Premium subscriptoin in Canada BC. My friend has recieved his google home mini. I can't find where to sign up. please send me my google home mini. Where do i go? where do i sign up?

The promotion is over. You can't.

If you're a single premium member 1st search your email for the link. Check
your spam or deleted folders. If its not there go to the spotify site and
email customer service. You should get a reply in about 48 hours. If you're
a premium family member, on trial, or student, you wont quality.

I keep getting to the page where it tells you to register for the deal, when I click "register now" it takes me to the home page. 

How do I get it to work? I'm not even getting a response page.
