Censored Artists

Solved!

Censored Artists

Hi,

I am from Germany and I am aware of the fact that there are albums of certain artists that are put on index here so they can't be sold to kids and youths. Now that I am no youth anymore for quite several years - why does Spotify restrict me from listening to those albums?

I am no free account user and pay for this service and I want to be able to listen to the "adult" stuff as well.

any solutions to this?

best regards

Spotify does not censor music. We make music available in whatever form it’s given to us.

Often, albums are released in “explicit” and “clean” versions. Only one will be immediately visible.

(Sometimes it's hard to find the explicit version in the mobile app)

To see all versions:

  1. Click the album title on the artist or search page.
Click the album title in Spotify
  2. Click the drop-down menu at the bottom for other releases.
Spotify album view - click more releases
  3. Select the other version and you'll be taken to it.

In rare cases, an error may have occured making the explicit version unavailable. The tracks may be re-linked to the "clean" version temporarily while we fix things.

Enjoy your music!

hi MattSuda,

thanks for your reply. Unfortunately this is not true. Take the band/artist "Cannibal Corpse" for instance. When you have an US account, there are all of their albums available. When you have a german account, there is only one album. I guess Spotify has to censor the albums list because of german child and youth protection laws but still since I am over 30 years old this should not apply to me.

If anyone has a solution, I would appreciate it.

(Spotify support says they don't feature age verifications...)

regards

Oh, that is a totally different problem then.

Sometimes music is only available in certain countries, while access is blocked to others.

This is a decision that is made by the artist and their record label.

The availability of music on Spotify is up to the artist and their music label.
Spotify has no control over what content is available.
