Constantly updating

Solved!

Constantly updating

Hi guys. My problem is that Spotify is constantly asking me to update, every 10 minutes more or less. Is this normal?  It's really annoying. I have a premium account.

Are you using the desktop app?

Try a clean reinstall:

Windows:

First uninstall Spotify and then delete this folder:

C:\Users\YOURUSERNAME\AppData\Roaming\Spotify
and C:\Users\YOURUSERNAME\AppData\Local\Spotify

After that reinstall Spotify

If you can't find the folder, try this:

Uninstall Spotify: Start > Control Panel > Programs / Uninstall a Program > Spotify
Find your AppData folder and delete all Spotify data.
Start, run, type: %appdata% and hit enter
You probably see 4 folders; enter each and see if they contain a folder called Spotify. Delete the entire Spotify folder.
Restart your computer at this point.
Reinstall Spotify (download)

Easy method:
Download this free app cleaner. It's super easy.

http://www.freemacsoft.net/appcleaner/

When you open up the app, search for Spotify and it will automatically find and delete all files on your computer related to Spotify.

I use it all the time and it's a really great tool. If you ever decide to uninstall an app, the best way is to use this tool.

After that, download and reinstall Spotify.

This is a problem for a ton of people, why should we have to reinstall? This is a service we pay for, Spotify should rectify this issue on their end and patch it.

Bah. There is no way to make it stop. The only condition that Spotify checks to determine whether to ask me to update is whether I've updated in the last 3 minutes. I've done the reinstall and have the same behavior on multiple machines, so I have come to the conclusion that this is a FEATURE of Spotify, just an incredibly annoying one.

I've done about 6 clean uninstall/reinstalls... I kept having the same issue every time i reinstalled.

UNTIL- I downloaded the AppCleaner... That thing is magic. It works awesome. Deleted EVERYTHING spotify off my Mac. This is the only thing i've tried that has actually worked. Thank you so much!
