Does the play queue behave differently between Free and Premium?

I'm using spotify for the first time. I'm running it on a macbook pro. I am trying to figure out how the queue works. I am using Spotify Free.

Expected:

- I find an album, I click the '...' icon, I choose queue, album gets added to the play queue (lower left area of the UI)

- I find another album, I  click the '...' icon, I choose queue, album gets added to the play queue (lower left area of the UI)

- I should now have two albums in my play queue.

Observed:

- I have only one album in my play queue. When I try to add the second album to the queue (either using a menu command or dragging it to the play queue area), nothing happens: I still only have the first album I added to the play queue.

Is this behavior as expected?

I'm confused by "lower left area of the UI". To see what is in the playqueue, you click on "Queue" which is the 7th item in the list in the left panel. Are you looking t something different?

I think you might be looking at the now playing box rather than the queue?
