I've been exchanging with Spotify support via Twitter for quite some time now (for more than a month) regarding issues with e-mail notifications.
The issue is that they were not coming, except billing e-mail or when someone added new music to their playlist that I followed.
I wanted to receive information about new profil followers, knowing that notifications in the desktop kind of always sucked and still sucks and because I did get lot of others notifications, which is hard to browse through.
And even though the option for that has been ticked in my profile settingss they didn't come through.
So I reported that to Spotify they seem to find it really hard to fix that. It's been a month, lot of messages, troubleshooting and testing and still to this day e-mail notifications are broken. But then it appeared like they manage to fixed something recently (5days ago) and told me to test it.
This time I have ticked all the types of notification to try it out. It's been a week.
I receive around 80% notifications about new playlists followers (which is an improvement; every day I get around 20-30 of them) and this is it.
But there's no e-mail for my profile followers(although they number of them has gone up), no for my new inbox messages (i've receive a bunch of them since), no for friends activities or even new updates of a followed playlist this time.
I'm not sure about others like New album releases, because I don't follow any artists/bands or radio suggestions/recomendations because I don't know how often they're coming.
So my question is—does anyone else has e-mail notification option ticked for some things but isn't not receiving them? Then I'd provide this thread to the support so maybe they'd see that the problem is global. And maybe it'd help them fix it having more examples.
Th most frustrating thing is that since Spotify has been founded it never had reliable notification system, neither in the apps nor the e-mail ones. And this is such a basic feature.
The notifications system has always been spotty for me.
Email notifications used to work for me, but as of October 2014, I have not received any, even though the check boxes for the notifications I want are checked in the settings page.
Even in-app notifications have been flawed for me for well over a year now. I only get notified of about 50% of the new releases from the artists I follow. And it seems the notifications system ignores any new releases that have the word "remix" in it.
I've had support look into my account more than several times now, and I was never able to get it fixed. I keep hearing that there is nothing wrong with the notifications system.
I've just been really tired of trying to get it fixed, so I just live with it now.
I only use the notifications system to get notified of new releases, but since I think the system is flawed, I'm hoping my new idea gets implemented:
Same problem here. I don't get any e-mail notifications but they are ticked in my profile settings. Why is that???
Having the same issues. Seems to be broken, for a long time now.
