Here is my suggestion: when creating a mailing list for a promotion make sure you sub divide it between clients who qualifies for the promotion and client who do not. It is extremely frustrating to keep receiving an email that advertises a promotion that you do not qualify for.

Constructive criticism: your team is very pick when hiring, I have applied a thousand times to work at Spotify, but apparently all of the people hired could not have thought of the most basic concept in any marketing campaign: segmentation. Spotify is an online service your online communication needs to be on point.

I read in a blog recently that one of the most common issues in email marketing is poor segmentation — brands often send the same promotion to everyone instead of targeting specific user groups. That really matches what you mentioned about Spotify’s promos.

 

According to the post, properly segmenting mailing lists based on behavior and eligibility not only reduces user frustration but also increases engagement. I think it’s something Spotify’s team could definitely improve on.
