My Question or Issue

 Dear reader,

My Spotify account doesnt work since a few weeks. I can't log in because it says i have a error code 17. Which means Spotify is possibly blocked by a firewall.

I'm traveling through South America, and had no problems for the first few months. Just recently it doesn't work anymore and gives me this message. I changed locations often as well, so I think it's not a firewall problem.

Any tips on how to solve this?

Regards,

Nick

Hey there Nick !

Let's try and figure this out together.

First i'd like to know if you tried logging in from a web page or only from the app/software?

Regards.

Hi Onebyboo,

I have the app installed on mu Macbook. I don’t use the browser version.

Thanks for getting back with me !

I'd like you to open a Incognito web page and try logging in to your accout and let me know if you manage so we can move forward.

TNX !

Hi,

Thank you for getting back at me too 🙂

I tried logging in in the web browser and it was successful. Even without
incognito I can play songs and log in.

Just one thing: I can't see all my playlists this way. Just the 'recently
played' songs and Discover Weekly option.

Nick

Hey !

Glad the web option let you enter your account.

This means the problem is with the app/software installed and not an account issue.

What i'd suggest doing is to perform a full uninstall of the program and reinstalling a fresh copy of it to see if it changes anything.

About not seeing the playlists, can you please send me a screenshot of the user page?

TNX.

Here's a screenshot:

I just have 'Recently Played' Options. No playlist is visible, while I have
many.

Do i lose my playlists if I reinstall the app?

Hey there !

Playlists aren't gone as Spotify has a "Recover Playlist" section which keeps all deleted playlists with an option to restore.

In addition, your screenshot wasn't uploaded properly.

Make sure to reupload it so we can move forward with solving this issue.

Cool, I'll try the re-install.

Here's my screenshot again

Hello there!

Mind if I jump in? This problem is sometimes caused because some files weren't completely deleted when having a clean reinstall. I'd recommend following these steps to solve your problem:

1. Uninstall spotify.

2. Install Ccleaner (or any other computer cleaner software) to detect the broken or empty files in the registry.

3. Run the registry cleaner in the software after installing it (about 2-3 times just to be sure it cleans it completely).

4. Go to the Spotify website and download Spotify again here.

Hope this helps and have a nice day!
