Hello,
I am trying to link my Spotify account with my Mint.com account so that I can keep track of when my Premium bill is due. There's an option for Spotify already, so I am assuming it has worked for others. However, my Spotify account was created via Facebook/logs in via Facebook, and Mint.com needs a username/password in order to link. I have tried my current Facebook e-mail/password, as well as the Facebook e-mail/password I would have used back when my Spotify account was created. No luck on any combination. I am all out of ideas. Is there no way to connect a Facebook-linked-Spotify account to Mint? Or if I'm doing it wrong, what is the proper username/email/password combo to use for a Facebook-linked account? Minor inconvenience in the grand scheme, but it definitely bugs me not being able to access this feature simply because I signed up with Facebook.
Solved! Go to Solution.
Go here to reset your Spotify "device password". On that page, you'll be able to trigger an email to reset your device password, which is the password tied to your numerical username. This worked for me to link my Spotify account to Mint.
I attached some screenshots to show:
Hey there @mikemefv!
The issue lies in your account being created through Facebook unfortunately. You don't have the same "user/password" combo that works for people who signed up directly through Spotify, but you also don't have to remember that username and password every time you login either.
Can you try signing up with Mint with your bank or credit card account details? That should carry it through as one of your regular bills and then you can categorize it in Mint according to your needs.
Hope that helps!

What's a Spotify Rock Star, and how do I become one?
Same issue here! I have my Paypal hooked up to Mint, so I know when the charges ocme out and how to track them, but Mint's Bill Pay functionality needs to integrate directly with the billing entity (Spotify).
I can't seem to figure out how to get them connected either since they are using FB to broker the login...
Hi guys,
Try this. You can generate an app-specific password through Facebook for exactly this purpose. I found this out when I wanted to hook up Spotify into a 3rd party music feed aggregator thing called Tomahawk, but haven't tried it for Mint. Worth a shot.
Just tried your suggestion and it did not work for me.
You can even set a device password from your Spotify account and it'll send the link to your email with a device username consisting of numbers. When I clicked the link to set my device password, I got this:
Hey there @ca_shen, thanks for reaching out in the community!
That's not good. Try opening the reset link in an incognito window in your browser or a different one and let me know how it goes 🙂

Tried opening the link in an incognito tab and that did not resolve the issue either. I continue seeing the error message.

This worked for me. Thanks.
Creating a device password worked for me to use a different 3rd party biller, Prism. I wasn't sure using a device password would connect my payment information but it did. Thanks for the suggestion!
This process works. When logged into your Spotify account, view your account, click Set Device Password and follow the process. You will receive an email with your numeric device username and a link to set the password. Follow the the link and set a password (it can be the same as your Facebook password if you want to keep it simple). Once done, go back to your Mint account and follow the wizard to link your Spotify account. Use the numeric username from the email and the password you just set.
Spotify has this available for devices that you want to use with Spotify but don't have Facebook capabilities. Mint effectively is a device that does not have Facebook capabilities.
