Friend can only use Spotify on PlayStation

A friend of mine created their Spotify account via PS4, and has had the account for several years. However, when they try to get Spotify on their phone and type in their username to try and get that account, it doesn't seem to work. Is this just some sort of issue involving making an account through a game system or something? Is there a way to fix it so he can access it on other platforms?

Thanks for reaching out. Spotify accounts are not restricted as to what devices they can be used on and also PlayStation is not an alternative login method we support, unlike Facebook, Google or Apple ID. Your friends should try and login to their account page first to see what the correct email address and username of their account is. It's possible that they tried to use the display name instead of the username or that the name was just incorrect. From the account page, one can update all the necessary details (except username) and login freely. If they face login issues, consider this article.
