How do I add a username and password to my spotify account?

I want to leave Facebook but would like to keep my Spotify service. How do I add a username and password to my spotify account? I've looked around, but couldn't find anything. For what it's worth I've been a paying member for almost a year now.

Hi, and welcome to the community!

You can do this by:

1) Create the new username based account

2) Submit an online contact form; and someone at Spotify can move everything from your facebook account to your new one.
If you get an automated reply; make sure to reply to it directly (even if it's from a no reply); and it will be sent to the Spotify staff.

3) You can now leave facebook without worrying about Spotify.

If your account was created with facebook then yes. If it was created with a spotify username and you then linked it to facebook, you can simply unlink it following the steps in the first part of this guide.

jwylot, that information isn't even up to date anymore. The option to disconnect doesn't even appear in the preferences. I've already deactivated facebook.

If your account was created via Facebook, and you have deactivated that Facebook account, you will need a new account as @Taylor mentioned above.

I've sent emails, and tweets. Nothing.

At this point I'm leaning to unsubsctibing because of your guys bad user excerance choices. There should be an option to set your own username and password in the account.

By the way. I've been logging in with my device number, and the password I set for that.

Deactivating facebook and keeping spotify without having to get a new acct can be done if you have a premium acct.  you need to log back into facebook so you will have access to your spotify acct.  You then need to create a device password.  click this link to create a device password  http://www.spotify.com/account/set-device-password  Once you receive an email and create your device password, log out/deactivate facebook, then log into spotify on your device using your new numerical username and password provided. Enjoy!
