I listen to a wide range of music, but it's often classical... and I don't really appreciate this AI guy telling me we're going to "hit it up" with some Chopin or some Mozart. It was funny for about 5 minutes, but now it's just annoying. I don't like his ridiculous accent. A clean/smooth/neutral accent would be far more appropriate, or at the very least, a way to turn it off. I like what's being played/queued but I don't like listening to this accent. How can I get rid of it?
Hey @sforzando,
Thanks for posting in the Community.
You can find out how to turn off the AI DJ feature in this thread. If you want to have a different voice for the feature, you can submit a feature request as described here.
Hope this helps,
Cheers!
That thread doesn't offer a solution. I'm not trying to turn off the feature, as I said I like the mix and recommendations, I just can't stand this irritating voice. There should be a way to turn off the voice but keep the shuffle, or choose a different voice.
And the feature request/suggestion doesn't work either.
Hey @sforzando,
Thanks for getting back to us and bringing your feedback.
Seems like the Community folks have already gathered on a similar feature request and have created an Idea about this. If you'd like to be able to change/ disable voice personality of AI DJ, we'd suggest that you check this idea here. Make sure you leave your vote to support it, so that it would have a better chance of being considered, as Spotify always strives to improve your experience.
We always take new suggestions and feedback into consideration to improve the app, however, it's important to note that sometimes new submissions are temporarily paused due to a high amount of new Ideas to review. If you'd like to submit a new feature request to Spotify - we'd recommend that you check back the Ideas board regularly 🙂
Hope you find this useful. If you need anything else, the Community is here for you.
I agree whole heartedly, the voice feature is awful and creepy. We need to be able to “mute” the voice.
Agreed, and to be able to disable the fade in/out would be nice too. I don't want to hear 2 songs at a time for 5 seconds
The mix is really good, it's a shame there's not more customization
I also can't stand the "DJ X" voice. Seems odd that Spotify would force a voice with such an obvious ethnic tinge to it on users who wanted to use the feature, but it's not surprising.
I also can't stand its inability to pronounce half of the band names I listen to. For example, it pronounces "Xile" as "zile" and "Bloodbather" as "blood bother". ChatGPT has no issue pronouncing these things.
Totally! The voice sounds so in authentic.
This guy Crosspatch is straight up bothered the synthetic disembodied voice isn’t white.
i would also like to turn off the feature, its just not some issue with “ethnics”.
24 likes, 18 supporters.. and still we have to live with "waddup it's your DJ X, we're gonna kick it up with some Vivaldi"... I'm kicking off already, don't worry.
I just searched Google to find the solution and seems loads of people also hate the DJ voice. It's so annoying!!! Actually would probably prefer no voice at all...
I see some people have an issue with the accent. Maybe you could localise it so I could hear a lovely local Australian voice hehe
Just a possibly useful observation. I have Chromcast audio's all over my house. When I am shipping my audio around those spotify pops up a notification that the dj voice is not compatible with my speakers and happily keeps its damn mouth shut.
The default DJs voice is TERRIBLE. adds nothing at all to what is otherwise a good feature.
DJ = annoying... Spotify make it stop or give us alternatives that aren't annoying... he's worse than video ads between videos
Spotify Team - A simple way to switch DJ voices would be ideal and would be of benefit to your customer base. To be am not sure if all end-users have the same wack-a**DJ voice, but it makes me not use this feature. A female voice would fantastic!
Kind Regards, Your Customers (as evident in this thread dating back nearly a year or more at this point).
For me it’s not even so much the voice but the personality. I find them incredibly annoying.
Can we please get a way to turn it off? His voice is incredibly grating to my ears.
"This is some stuff you listen on Wednesdays..." The reasons the DJ voice comes up with for playing songs is ridiculous. "Here are some songs you been listening to on heavy reapeat " then plays songs i have categorically never played on spotify.
The mix and variety is good, let's lose the pathetic DJ
