I can't see what my friends are listening to on friend activity.

My Question or Issue

Hey! This been bugging me for while. I've tried to install the app few different times on my laptop but nothing. So i can't really see what my friends are listening, i even changed my language to English to see if that might work, didn't work. So it just says connect to Facebook ( you can see better at the pic below) and i even asked my friend about it and they don't have anything like that. I have premium and had it for few years or so. I didn't pay any attention to it until recently as i tried to see what my friends is listening. My friend can see what i am listening but i don't think i have ever been able to. I recently connected my Spotify to my Discord and i can see what people are listening on there but not on Spotify which when i think about it is weird.

If anyone would have any suggestion about my problem it would mean a world to me. Thank you for your time and i hope you have the loveliest day🌻. Lots of love.

Here's the proper answer directly from an excellent Support Rep - Diana F:

At Spotify, we're always working to enhance our users' experience. We recently updated the Friend Activity default to private so that users have greater control over how their listening activity is shared with others on Spotify.

It's possible that your friends haven't opted back in to show their listening activity publicly, that's why it's not showing on your end."

This answer directly addresses the root cause of the problem for the majority of the users facing this issue, as well as how to solve it. Note: The solution does NOT lie on yourself alone, the old 'See what your friends are playing' option is now gone, but, it is always enabled. However, the new "Share my listening activity on Spotify" option is disabled by default. 

That being said, unless you either: 

a) Connect your account to facebook in order to agree to both share your activity to your facebook friends, and also see their activity.

or 

b) Follow the above steps (and your friends follow them as well)

You won't be able to see their activity in the Friend activity window anymore.
