I don't want to use facebook.

I've tried making a new spotify account without facebook as the login method... though it says my existing email address is already in use. I attemped to change the email account associated with my facebook page, but the same error appears. I then deactivated my facebook account / removed the spotify app from the settings but i still get the same problem.

I do not use facebook anymore and simply want to be able to login to spotify with my email adress and a password.

Why isn't this possible?

I have searched existing threads for possible answers, but nothing answers my question.

You can't have spotify without Facebook. The old system was with Spotufy credentials only. Then it changed to have both, Spotify credentials and optional Facebook login. Now-a-days it's tied to Facebook. To my knowledge, youi can't have Spotify without Facebook.

If that's true i will not bother using spotify again. 

Same goes for all other services that dictate us to be forced to make a facebook account. This is ridiculous.

And it's a shame because spotify is a great piece of software.

I don't have Facebook as well but I love Spotify, it just sucks they you need Fb. I can't able to change my profile picture or anything. I got the three months for $. 99 and considering of getting the premium but I might just change my mind and find another music app without using Facebook.

Hi there and welcome to the community.

You should get in touch with the spotify support team by using the online contact form or by tweeting @SpotifyCares on twitter. They are able to detach Facebook from your account.

If you get an auto reply back directing you to the help pages, just reply directly to that email (even if its from no-reply) and one of the employees will get back to you as soon as possible.
