Is authorization charge refundable?

My Question or Issue

I recently changed my payment method and I received the note below. My card was successfully charged by spotify. Since it is temporary, when will it be refunded?

Note: When you add a payment method, you may see an authorization charge for a nominal amount appear on your account. This authorization charge allows us to verify the validity of your payment method. It’s only a temporary hold and will disappear within a short time.

It depends on the bank you're using, but normally the amount gets back to your account a day or two later.

My Question or Issue

I am writing to formally raise a complaint regarding unexpected charges made to my debit card after updating my payment method.

• My Spotify plan is scheduled for renewal on <Moderator edit>, with a cost of <Moderator edit>.

• However, on <Moderator edit>, after updating my debit card (since my previous card was expiring), I received notifications of two additional charges:

  • <Moderator edit> labeled EBANX 1MUSICSPOT*

  • <Moderator edit> labeled EBWSPOTIFY1*

These charges were unexpected, unrelated to my plan renewal, and unfair since I will still be charged the full plan price on <Moderator edit>.

I kindly request:

1. A clear explanation of why these charges were made.

2. A refund of the <Moderator edit> that was charged without authorization.

3. Assurance that no further extra charges will be applied beyond my regular plan fee.

I trust this issue will be resolved promptly.
