Log in- error 408

I have problems to log in on my app- and I do not want to use my facebook account.. I got error 408? What should I do? I can log in on my computer.

Hi, I'm getting error 408? I originally downloaded and joined when I was on holiday in Spain, but since returning home it's never worked

If this is a free account, changing the country in your profile should get it working again.

Hi i cant seem to log in as i usually do with my fb account on my iphone, i have the same problem with the error 408 but my country is correct and i have a premium account..
How do I log in/

@bibigsm - your account is currently on a Free subscription, which you can check from here. If you resubscribe, everything should go back to normal.

Hi! 

I am on a free account, created in Sweden (where I live) but now that I am spending 6 months in Japan, I cannot log in. I get the 408 error code also. 

I decided to upgrade my account to premium, after reading this long thred. 

However, when I try to upgrade it, I am sent off to a page that says (in Japanese) that the service is not available in Japan. 

What are my options, if any?

Hey @Saa15 🙂 

Spotify is not currently yet available in Abu Dhabi so you won't be able to use the service there. If you have a payment method from a country where Spotify is available still, you can subscribe to unlimited or premium which would allow you to use your account there.

I have similar error only on my iPhone. I live now between the uk and the Netherlands, but initially set my account in the uk. I only have uk accounts so can only pay from uk but I dont mind changing the profile to the Netherlands. From my PC I can log in successfully.
Please help

@Fmartelli - If you are on Spotify premium then you shouldn't get Error 408 since it only applies to free accounts. Are you sure you are using the correct premium login details?

Well yes, I have been login in with Facebook account for the last 18 months, so there shouldn't be a reason why things changed. Even though, and this leads to my second issue, my profile often gets changed to the profile name of my friend in whose computer I initially set up the account. for example, when I share one of my playlists the link contains my friends name instead of mine. May this be part of the problem?

When you say profile name, is it being changes to their Spotify username or their real name?

It seems that the 'root' name of my spotify account is still my friends name, and my actual name is the 'new' profile name. For example, when I log in, the first name that appears on the top left is my friends name but after a few seconds when the whole page downloads, my name appears. Also, as I mentioned, when I share playlists using a link, my friends name appears on the link address instead of mine.

That will be becuase your friends spotify username account is actually connected to your Facebook, so when you log in you are actually logging into their account not your own. 

The easiest way to split the accounts is to go to Edit/Spotify > Preferences > Social Network > Disconnect from Facebook in the desktop client, be aware before you do this however:

- It will force a log out, so you will need to sign in again. 

- If you have any playlists on that username account, then you will loose them if you do this (since when you log in it will appear like a brand new account). 

If you would like someone at Spotify to help you out, get in touch with the customer services team directly using the online contact form and they will be able to get everything sorted out for you. 

If you get an automated email reply back directing you to the community or help pages, you need to reply directly to that email (even if its from no-reply) and one of the customer services agents will get back to you as soon as possible.

i just came back from a few days in the USA.

Now I'm back in Germany (where I live) and I can't log in to spotify. The iphone app gives me the 408 error code.

The Windows app tells me to changy my country in my profile settings on spotify.com.

In my profile settings I can't change the country settings back to germany. Can you help?

Hey @miadeluka 🙂 

Your online profile will only let you change your country to the country the system currently "thinks" you are connected from. Are you connecting via a network in Germany and not via a US proxy, company network or VPN? There is also a help topic for country issues here.

Also be aware Spotify usage on the iPhone app in Germany will require a premium subscription (mobile radio for free accounts only works in the US).

HI.

I'm looking for some help with my Premium Account.

I was given a year of a premium account as a present in February. It was bought for me by someone in the UK.

My country is set for US in my premium account, but I'm currently in Israel for a bit.

It was working fine in Israel, until a week ago (mid-September), my laptop spotify says that my profile country and the country taht I'm in do not much, nad I need to sign up for a premium account in order to use it. 

So - I am assuming the 12 months gift, really only lasted 7 months, fine. BUT - I REALLY would like to continue my premium account while I'm abroad, and not wait until I'm back in the states or UK in order to upgrade again. 

BUT - because I'm in israel, I keep getting "spotify is not currently available in your country", when I try to upgrade my account, back to the premium that I assume expired.

Is there anyway to pay for a premium account, as an American, while I'm visiting abroad?

If not - honestly, that really makes no sense, and makes me wonder what anyone is supposed to do if their account expires while abroad??
