Merge of two accounts

Solved!

Merge of two accounts

I have two accounts. An old free account with my e-mail as username and a new premium with different username. I would like to use my e-mail as contact e-mail for the premium account but cannot as it is username for the other.

Can I merge the accounts under the premium and then use my e-mail?

Hey, @Teena60

Welcome to Spotify Community and thanks for contact us here!

About your question, I suggest that you close the old account following these steps:

It’s only possible to close an account if it’s on our free, ad-supported service. If you have Premium, you first need to cancel.

  1. Log in to close your account here.
Note: Be sure to cancel any subscriptions first.
  2. Select Account and login help.
  3. Select I want to close my account permanently.
  4. Continue through the steps.

After you close your old account, you'll be able to use your email in your new Spotify account following these steps:

  1. Log in to your account page.
  2. Click EDIT PROFILE.
  3. Under Email, enter your new email address.
  4. Confirm your password.
  5. Click SAVE PROFILE.

And you're done! A confirmation email will be sent to both the old and new email address detailing the changes.

If you need more information or have any other questions, let me know here in Community and I'll try to find the best solution for you.

The previous solution probably won't work right away after closing the other account. You have to wait 14-30 days for the old account to be completely deleted. Then it should work.

You can merge accounts though.

What if I have this similar situation, but also want to never my play lists from my free account to my Premium account?!

Hey @GeauxFeauxIt,

Thanks for your reply.

In this case, we'd suggest you first merge the playlists in both accounts and then close the free one, so you can avoid confusion.

That being said, you can follow the steps in this article to transfer the playlists in your free account to the Premium one. Just keep in mind that your followers need to follow you back on the new account to see your activity.

Once you're sure the transfer is complete between both accounts, you can close the one you're not going to use anymore (in your case, the free one). You can close it by following the steps in this article.

We hope you found this helpful. Let us know if you need anything else.
