So I just moved to Egypt from the US. Would changing my country settings to Egypt cause me to only have access for 14 days, even though I have moved there permanently. Or does this mean I need to make a new account?

Hello @msidd93 , welcome to the community!

You can use our free service with foreign ads only for 14 days.

To change the country settings:

Log in to your account page.
Click EDIT PROFILE.
Scroll down until you reach Country and select the new country from the drop-down list.
Important: You will only be able to see the new country in the list once you get there.
Click SAVE PROFILE.
You can switch to Premium and listen to music anywhere in the world for as long as you want without changing the country settings.

If my post helped you to fix your problem, please press "Accept as Solution" button.

Cheers!!

No, not at all. You're account is associated with your id, so it does not matter. However, keep in mind that Spotify sees your new IP address, and there will proabably be a lot of American songs will will no longer have access to, because of license restrictions.

Hey there @msidd93,

Thanks for posting and welcome to the community!

Apologies for any confusion. If you're on our free, ad-supported service you can use Spotify in a different country for up to 14 days. To clarify, if your account is currently set to the US, you will be able to use Spotify in Egypt for 14 days.

After that time, you'll need to update your country settings to match the country you're in to keep using Spotify 🙂

Let us know how you get on.

That's interesting. I assumed since the user knows their credentials, and spotify sees the IP, it wouldn't matter. Is that a security measure?

Hey there @user-removed,

If I understand correctly your question, you need to manually update your country settings when moving abroad. You can find more info on how to do so on the support page article I posted previously.

If you think an automated update of your country settings when you're abroad is something you'd like to see on Spotify in the future, feel free to suggest it to our Ideas Exchange here.

Hope this helps clarify things!

No, it was in reference to my response to the original poster. I assumed the user didn't need to change their country because Spotify sees their IP. However, the 14 day limit was an important piece of information you've shared. I will make a note of it.
