Multiple playing devices

I noticed earlier when i was using my spotify on my desktop, that it was playing on my phone as well....how do i make it not do that?
I was able to change the track and volume on the deaktop with my phone spotify app.....

What phone you have? If it's Android you can kill Spotify process through App Settings and Task Manager, let me know if this helps.
