Play button not working

Play button not working

I was listening to my music in my last period Thursday and I got home that same Thursday and my music would not play. The fast forward, play, and rewind buttons are greyed out and it won't play any playlist, radio, or individual song. I'm on my Chromebook using Spotify web player. I have tested and I'm certain it's not the device because I switched to my brother's account and his playback was fine. It has been like this for three days. Please HELP

I'm having the same problem, except only my play button is grayed. I've clicked other songs, it wont switch. Spammed the play button, reloaded the page, logged out, deleted the song in question, and nothing worked 😕

Mine is doing the same thing, every time I open the app it is stuck on the same song with the play button greyed out and will not play anything else. I've done everything suggested in the community and it still doesn't work. I would use spotify every day on this device and I'm becoming extremely frustrated. It started a few weeks ago.

Same thing started happening here.

Shuffle and Replay are ok, the rest is simply greyed and dead 😞

Adding this to constant need to restart or reinstall the program because freezes or just takes forever to boot I am now seriously thinking to abandon Spotify forever.

Hey there @sashaagram,

Thank you for joining the Community!

Could you confirm for us if you're only experiencing this on the web player or in the desktop app as well?

If it's only on the web player, we would suggest that you try to log in your account from your mobile app or the desktop app. Try playing a song from there and then click on the available devices icon in the bottom left corner. After this select the web player from the menu of connected devices. Let us know if this enabled the play button on your web player.

If the option remains grayed out, you can try to log out from everywhere with the steps here and log back in only on the web player.

If the issue is still present after this, please send us a few screenshots of what you see on your end.

We have also noticed, that other users are experiencing a similar issue with the web player and have shared some solutions. You can check the other thread here.

Keep us posted on how it goes!
