My Question or Issue
**bleep** asking to confirm a change of email address, none of us have changed our email addresses and none of our addresses have changed in account settings. It also happened shortly after the monthly payment was taken.
The address seems legit, is this a glitch, or has something been compromised.
No one clicked confirm.
Hey there folks,
Thanks for posting in this thread and for expressing your concerns about the received emails.
We can confirm that there was a system glitch where some of our users received this email incorrectly. The issue has been resolved and if you don't see a change of your email address on the Account Page, you may dismiss the notification received.
The Community's here if you need help with anything else. Cheers 🙂
I got the same thing, wondering if some dev messed up
I received the same email. Concerned that my account could be hacked but the email didn't actually change to a different one. It'd be great to see confirmation that this email was sent in error.
Same here. Everything looks fine in "My Account," but prior to today's email I hadn't touched my account settings in over a year.
I’ve had the same issue, not updated my personal details for at least a year ? Spotify what is up ?
i got this too, hoping its a glitch
Same here.
I didn't press the confirm button.
Same here, hoping that Spotify will speak about this.
I found this thread because I had this exact problem. Did not ask to change my email address, got the email stating that I should confirm changing the email address, did not confirm of course. I can still login to my account. My account is a free account though, so I see no reason why someone would want to hijack mine 😄

You would need to do this more publicly. Ask you Product Managers to do something as this would have triggered panic among your users.
I got the same email and my email address had been changed. Do I need to worry about my payment method being compromised?
Hey folks,
Thanks for posting in this thread!
@morreyplace - Rest assured that your payment information is never fully displayed, and we apply rigorous security measures to protect your personal data. As your email address has changed, however, we recommend following the steps (Still have access to your account? or Can’t access your account?) listed on this page. This is to secure your account and ensure you're the only one with access.
We can also recommend checking this article for more tips on how to further protect your Spotify account.
Hope this helps!
FYI, I chatted to Spotify support about this when it happened because I accidentally clicked Verify while trying to copy the URL to inspect it. I sent a screenshot of the email and support claimed it was not a Spotify email address so it didn't come from them.
It seemed legit to me, plus the 'Verify button' URL was also a Spotify domain and a phishing/hack attempt would be pointed somewhere else.
All to say, please educate your support team so that they don't sow further doubt when things like this happen.
Thanks.
Hey folks,
Thanks for the replies!
@freeflystu, thanks for the feedback, it's really appreciated!
@Titchyf, we can confirm there was a system glitch where some users received this sort of an email incorrectly. The issue has been resolved and you may disregard the notification received if there weren't any changes on your account. Apologies for the confusion!
Hope this clears things up.
