Songs not playing

My spotify has not been playing songs at all. When I click on a song it loads but does not start playing. I am at a loss. My computer is all up to date and I even tried reinstalling spotify and nothing. Please help!

Does the web player work? Are you behind a firewall or a proxy? What OS are you using?

The web player works perfectly. My laptop is using windows 8 and never had a problem.

have you tried logging out and back in?

Do you ever see any error messages? 

There are a number of windows 8 troubleshooting suggestions here which are worth a shot!
