I know how to solve the problem.
So when you get the error code 404 notification. What you do is simply go to Spotify website on the device you will be using Spotify for. And from there you will click on the menu button after that go to download it will take you to App Store open the app from Apple Store or play store. Then you should be able to login with no problem.

Hello and welcome to the Spotify Community!

You should contact with Spotify Consumer Support filling this contact form, or tweeting to @SpotifyCares (ENG), @SpotifyAyuda (ESP) or @SpotifyAjuda (PT).

If you receive an automated email that leads you back to the community or help pages, reply to it (even if it's from "no-reply") and one of the Spotify team members will get back to you as soon as possible.

I've been trying to solve this problem and the approach of down loading Spotify via Spotify website rather than directly from App Store solved it.  The only other thing I did was to disconnect from all other Spotify devices and I also used my user name rather than email address.

Hope this helps someone else.

Logging in with username instead of email was all I had to do when I got this error. Never would've considered it without your post, so thanks!
