Spotify Family - Same Address question ?

Hey guys,

I would like to subscribe to the spotify family offer.

When I tried to subscribe, I read the following sentence : "You and each of your family (at the same address) you invite will enjoy".

So it means that if I study in a different place that my parents are living in, I can't subscribe to this option ? Even if I can proove that they are my family ..?

They can't tell through IP address as mobile networks will have different ip's as your wifi address', so try on mobile networks or try setting up the accounts on the same wifi network then logging in wherever you like. But doubt ip address' is the issue. Have they already been a member with a different family account they may need unlinking from that. The most likely issue is the postal address is different to the family account holders address.

So this would mean my mum and sister are not family but my flat mates or my sisters uni house sharers are family? Slightly funny, but annoying. Just set everyone to the same address family or non family.

Yes, just you and your parents need to enter the same postal address. You will pass authorisation instantly. I work on the principle if one of you are not going pay for Spotify then they still gain from it as they are making a fiver more than they otherwise would. So they can't really complain.

They don't check as far as am aware and up doesn't matter as you can set it up over mobile networks which won't have the same ip from phone to phone. It will work.

I agree - this is so absurd. I just subscribed to the family package so my son who studies in Holland can access music. Why would Spotify do this? This is such a turn off. 

I've been a paying a subscriber to Spotify now for at least 5 years and was truly shocked when I saw this policy...

If you ask me it's pretty unintelligible, you offer a discount to family but then say that everyone has to share the same address? Take a note from Netflix or Hulu and just let it be...people are going to share accounts so they can get a better deal. It benefits you and it benefits us.

This policy doesn't make sense at all. Does spotify seriously expect entire families to cancel and resubscribe each time they move? It's 2017, people don't spend their entire life at the same address anymore. I have moved 3 times in the last two years alone.

I know this is not your fault personally, but I really hope you can relay feedback upstairs that that is ludicrous!!!

So what is the conclusion on this topic. Can I buy family package and still live at different addresses! Can I just make all the people change there address to the same as mine even if they live somewhere else?

No, you cannot do that. All members of a Premium for Family plan must reside at the same address as the plan owner. 🙂

Ofc you can do that, it's just their terms that say you cant. But you can and a lot of people do

Maxim. Tell me how the system is suppose to know, who I am in family with, if we register under same address? Because youre saying its not possible even though those I know have spotify family and they are not living at the same address.

And actually the term Spotify Family is misleading and should be called Spotify Household....

It does work, I've done it. Set same country and postcode/zipcode wait for invite and confirm with same address as sender

If you are going to be the account holder then just log on to Spotify on a web browser. There will be a link on the main page.
