My Question or Issue

First it started with today, there was a pop up that asked me to verify my email, although I have verified my email many years ago and never did anything. Not sure if this is related. Anyway..

Today when I was listening to my own playlist, when my own songs are played for 10-20 seconds, it would suddenly jumping to another random rap song. I am talking about some really random rap songs with almost no stream that I have never ever heard of in my life.

I thought I was hacked, so I went to Account and did "Sign Out Everywhere" and reset my password. I also looked to remove third party app access (which I had none, only Spotify). But it didn't fix anything, happened right away. Gotta be a bug.

It is happening on both phone and desktop platforms. I suspect this is a bug since I already reset my password and it just happens right away.

I found some people were facing identical issues here: https://www.reddit.com/r/spotify/comments/l2nn20/random_music_playing/

Hi there @abramtai,

thanks for reaching out !

From your description, it seems like your account might have been taken over.

Therefore, as basic first steps, I'd recommend following the steps provided both here and here to strengthen your account's protection.

Then, give your account 24-48hrs to see if the issue persists.

However, if the issue still exists, I do recommend considering a new account which will give you a fresh start.

You can always use the following guide page to learn how to transfer all of your data safely.

Would love to assist more if needed, just reply to the post.

Let me know how it goes 🙂
