Spotify no longer keeping login credentials?

Solved!

Spotify no longer keeping login credentials?

Plan

Family Premium

Country

Canada

Device

windows 10 laptop as well as several different android devices

Operating System

Windows 10 + several different android versions.

Starting either yesterday or today, not only are my login credentials not being saved by clients, the clients also seem to be logging me out after inactive periods.

I'm not a facebook user (deleted my FB account 6+ years ago) so it's quite annoying to have to enter my username and password every time I want to use my premium spotify account.

Is there a "remember me" setting somewhere and I'm just not seeing it?

Since the steps I took yesterday (changing password, opening the browser client and logging out) everything seems to be back to normal. Not sure if they did something to the login process in the background, or if it was one of those two steps that resolved the issue but I'm going to mark this post as the "solution" unless the issue rears it's ugly head again.

Hrmmm.... now I see a "remember me" box on the login. I'll have to see if it keeps me logged in.

Any chance this has something to do with the fact that my android phone somehow knows what track I'm playing (or have played) on a different device (shows on my lock screen) even though I don't have the client open on the phone at the moment?

Still happening. Any ideas?

Is it possible that they've started limiting to only one type of client logged in at once? (as in only one android client, only one windows client, etc....). I can understand the reasoning behind that, but I use multiple devices throughout the home and they need to fix the "remember me" part of the client if that's the case.

The "error" that I'm seeing after it logs off is that the password wasn't correct.

Really need a solution to this... for my usage scenario this might actually be a deal breaker that sends me over to a different streaming service.....

Hi

i’m Experiencing the same issue as you.

devices: iPhone & MacBook

keeps logging me out and this is annoying as **bleep**.

So far I'm hoping that the discussions around "error 3" are related to this issue, and thus the same solution will apply.

Those have all suggested that using the registered email address (as opposed to the unique username we created) to log in will resolve the issue.

Nope, that didn't do it either.....

This is seriously annoying. As I stated... I fully accept that maybe the system will not allow more than one active device per OS type (the system is designed to use android as a remote on a PC connected client so it has to accept more than one by design), but if that's the intended use... the clients need to remember my credentials (I don't use facebook) so that I don't have to re-enter my **bleep** username and password from scratch every time.

Is there any kind of hope that we might see some kind of official response in these threads, or is there a way to contact support for a solution?

Latest attempt was to change my password (although I was concerned that it might lock me out completely) to see if that will reset the account.

One thing I've noticed is that the android client's login page doesn't appear to have a "remember me" checkbox like the windows client does... not sure if that means anything.

edit: One other step I've taken (again... only time will tell if it resolved the issue) was to go into the web browser client and specifically log out. (I'd remembered that I'd recently had a look at the browser client just to see if it had better functionality than the normal client).

I'll update if this resolves the issue (and more than likely return to spam complaints if it doesn't....  🙂  ).

Same issue for me since yesterday on all devices: iPhone, iPad, Macbook....

All at the same time.

I used to connect from a spotify account, then 2 years ago I linked my FB account and connect through FB and it worked well since them.

Now I can't connect anymore from FB, I can still connect with my spotify account.

But everytime I'm launching Spotify, I need to log in... Drives me crazy

I have a sneaking suspicion this might be related to the recent action(s) by FB de-linking apps (like spotify/netflix) from having access to FB users' data.

I've never had an FB account linked to Spotify (haven't had FB for 6+ yrs) but if I had to guess... it'd be that the spotify credentials backend probably initially checks against the FB data they no longer have access to, and it's failing to move onto normal login credententials when it gets a null response from FB.
