Hi,
Noticed a couple of days ago I was no longer able to buy credits to buy MP3's."(At this moment it's not possible to buy downloads from Spotify, click here for more information)"
The link provided only said: "At this moment we don't offer an option to buy new downloads on spotify however you can still use download credits you already have".
-> When will Spotify again allow us to buy download credits?
PS. really bad timing to stop this before X-mas
Solved! Go to Solution.
The link does not connect. Error 404. What's going on?

Hey! Welcome to the community 🙂
Which link are you referring to, can you copy and paste it here?
The help pages recently went through a redesign so its possible the content has been moved.

It's a link earlier in the forum. Tried to copy/paste but the 'paste' option isn't there. We all basically need to know what's happened to downloads. Do I need to go elsewhere. It would be a shame - i've enjoyed and promoted Spotify for years now.

All of the information (and its pretty vague) about the downloads store removal is in this page.
If you can't see that page, it means the downloads store was not available in your region, but you can access the UK page by clicking here.

I think Spotify have shot themselves in the foot by doing this, I was a premium subscriber but when I learned that I couldn't buy download credits, I cancelled the £9.99 premium, and WILL be unintalling it from my computer. By the way Stopify which is a more apt name for this software, if I wanted to have playlists I WOULD USE MY FRICKING iPod u idiots!
But the rest **** .......is not so **** great and easy !!!!! Spotify was a very awesome with download service and now is not. 😞
SAM you must know that not every want to have music on telephon or computer
That was a very bad move .......

Hi! Welcome to the community! Things change and it doesn't always mean they get better. I believe Spotify stopped selling download credits because they wanted to focus on the streaming service. Speaking of, I suggest you to give some kudos to this idea. Be heard and change something! Good luck!
Well, that's it then! No more downloads on spotify! I have only just found it after spending 2 months compiling an extensive playlist and wanted to spend a £100 on downloads to get it! I use(d) spotify in order to download playlists onto my ipod. I do not wish to stream onto a mobile phone, I won't to own the tracks! SPOTIFY you have just lost another customer! I will now be cancelling my subscription and finding an alternative service. And to think I really liked your company and even recommended it to friends. You can be sure I'll be shouting and telling anyone who'll listen not to waste their time!
In what way does it not comply with the service you paid for?
The Spotify premium subscription does not, and has never included use of the download store, it was a seperate service which you needed to purchase credits for outside of your subscription.
All Spotify premium features remain unchanged (the ones you are paying for) and any tracks you have already purchased are yours to keep.

BECAUSE PETER, I HAVE BEN USING THE SUBSRCIPTION SERVICE UNDER FALSE PRETENCES! I ONL USED THE SERVICE TO LISTEN TO TRACKS IN ORDER TO CREATE PLAYLISTS IN ORDER TO DOWNLOAD THEM!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! OTHERWISE I WOULD HAVE JUST LISTENED TO THE VAST NUMBER OF TRACKS THAT I ALREADY OWN! AT NO POINT OVER THE LAST FEW MONTHS HAS SPOTIFY NOTIFIED ME THAT DOWNLOADS HAVE CEASED! WHEN I JUST WENT TO BUY £100 WORTH OF CREDITS ON ORDER TO DOWNLOAD A 200 TRACK PLAYLIST FOR MY IPOD, I DISCOVER THAT I HAVE BEEN RIPPED OFF! WHY HAVE I BEEN PAYING FOR A SPOTIFY SUBSCRIPTION SERVICE FOR THE LAST FEW MONTHS! FALSE PRETENCES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Hi,
If you are saying that you paid for credits which clearly you can't use anymore; I suggest you submit an online contact form; and someone at Spotify can look into it for you.
If you get an automated reply; make sure to reply to it directly (even if it's from a no reply); and it will be sent to the Spotify staff.
As Peter said however; purchasing credits is entirely seperate to Spotify premium so it is in no way related. And as TheHidd said; there is an idea to bring it back, so if you feel strongly about it then add Kudos there please.
If you feel that the only reason you had premium was the download store; then you can always cancel your subscription for now. The download store was not linked to premium anyway so I'm not entirely sure where you're coming from.
Anthony 🙂
P.S best not to use all caps in a post; it is unnecessary; your post will still be read whatever form it is in.
If you have credits they will still be usable on your account, I double checked this with the staff a few days ago (just the "Get" buttons are hidden unless you have credits remaining in the latest client).

Well goodbye spotify! I too have spent quite some time compiling a playlist to pay for downloads so I can run it on my phone on long journeys without any data charges or problems where data is not available and now I discover I can't buy. So its not a lot of use to me anymore!
I started using wimp, but they don't seem to provide worldwide service 😕
They do however give the oportunity to buy/download tracks
[Edit - Removing links to commercial services - Peter]
Wow. This link takes you to 110 answered support questions but not one of them addresses purchasing mp3s. That's annoying.
You mean this one?:
https://support.spotify.com/learn-more/faq/#!/article/Changes-to-the-Download-store
It should take you to that page and open the specified "Changes to the Download store" question (as long as you aren't using an acient browser like IE6).

No more Spotify for me. If I can't buy and download music that I like in a legal way through the application I am paying for (Premium), I guess it's back to torrents. Is that what Spotify wants? Shame On You !
