Ok, so this only happens at work. I'm guessing because of network restrictions. However, I don't understand why the web player works and the desktop app doesn't (I'm on mac btw). Isn't data coming from the same sercer or what?
Any light on this issue, or if there is a workaround to get the desktop app working. (Besides bribing IT)
I want to use the desktop app because of connect, social, and hotkeys.
Thanks.
Miguel.

So, I managed to fix the issue, this is what happened. At work I use a username and password to acces the proxy of mi network, so at the startup of the spotify app in the lower part you go into settings and it prompts some network settings. So I changed proxy from automatic to HTTPS, I went into my mac settings and went to proxies, where I copied the Server and Port from the HTTPS proxy, and pasted it in the spotify settings, there I entered my work's network username and password. Saved restarted and good to go.
So if you see anyone having a similar issue, tell them to try this.

Thanks @420Nico for helping, but nothing.
Did the clean reinstall but when i click on login with facebook
I get "Spotify desktop client communication failed" same as before, once I used my spotify like login number, and I managed to log in but nothing happened inside the app, as if I had no connection.
