So for the last year, I've been using my Spotify Student discount to listen to music with no problem.
Today, I check my card statement and it appears that Spotify has charged me $10 instead of the student discounted $5.
What's up with that? I'm still a student at my university, I already submitted a screenshot of my schedule this year to appease you scheisters. (completely ridiculous)
You want me to pay $10 now that a year has gone by? Great policy. You see, the only reason I use Spotify is because it's $5. There are plenty of more established music services (looking at you, Google Music) that I will use instead of Spotify if you guys decide to keep this braindead policy of jacking up the price on students.
Fix this. I'm still a student. You still want a customer. I will jump to Google Music if you charge me $10 a month instead of $5.
And if your policy is to cancel the student rate after a year, WHY IS THIS INFORMATION NOT SHARED? It's like pulling teeth trying to get info from this website.

Hi, @maxwelljf4. Help's here!
When you subscribed to the Student Discount it was for a period of up to 12 months. Once this period ends, you need to activate another Student Discount offer. This way you'll enjoy Premium for up to 12 more months. And to activate it, just head to: spotify.com/student.
Here's the link to our Terms and Conditions of the offer in case you have any questions.
Let us know if we can help with anything else!
Teresa.
Since you mentioned that you are currently on the regular rate Premium subscription, try to cancel your current subscription and wait for your account to revert to Free. Once that happens, you can upgrade again with the Student Discount.
If your account is already on Free and you still can't get the discount, try creating a new one. I heard the awesome supports in Spotify can transfer the playlists and followers from one account to another.
Hope this helps! 😉
Hi there!
I escalated your post to support! 😉

Unfortunately when I try to use the link you offered, it states I am ineligible. Yet just like the original topic starter, I have been a student for the whole year I have had Spotify and am still currently a student. Heck, my semester started 02/23/2015 and goes till 06/2015!

i would like to highlight the problem that we are experiencing. We are STILL students. We were never notified about the ending of our contract as a student. the fact that they can just charge us double the amount that we have been paying is f*cking unacceptable. yes, we enjoy musc at a reduced price, but it is unfair for us to be charged without any notification on my account that i would be charged double from now on. Yes, i understand that the saved their asses by having that written in the contract. i think the real problem that i have is the **bleep**ty customer service that they offer, or should i say DON'T OFFER. no way to contact, no way to call, just discussion boards tht we wait to have commented on by other frustrated cusomers. On top of all of this, i should not have to cancel my subscription in order to apply the discount again on my account.
You can email Spotify support or for faster answer, you can also tweet at @spotifycares. Student discount is good for a year, it's on the terms and conditions when you took advantage of the discount. If you're still a student, you can renew the discount and get another year. 😉
Me too. I signed up last summer when I was taking classes, but now I'm in between semesters (not taking a class this summer). The message says "I am no longer eligible" and doesn't give me an option to prove.
What is the email address to spotify support???
You can email Spotify support at support.spotify.com
Hope this helps! 🙂
Dear Friend,
The same happened to me. Still a student and charged without any notification! Clearly, I cannot pay 10GBP per month, although I love spotify and I had it since forever really!
I was wondering if there is any spotify email address I could complain.
I could not find it somewhere.
Please, let me know.
Many thanks in advance.
Kind regards,
Harenios

Will I receive a refund for the month which I was charged $9.99? I have renewed my subscription, but since I was given no warning that I was about to expire I feel a little cheated.
You can contact with Spotify Consumer Support filling this contact form.
If you receive an automated email that leads you back to the community or help pages, reply to it (even if it's from "no-reply") and one of the Spotify team members will get back to you as soon as possible.
