I've had this problem for quite a while, please remove me from you email-list.I'm not subscribed to notifications and I'm getting at least 3 emails a day.
Today I also received a e-mail from no-reply@news.spotifymail.com saying that someone I know on Facebook has added music to a playlist I don't subscribe to. I don't even subscribe to any of his playlists, nor do I see him in my people's list.
My e-mail settings are already unsubscribed to these kind of messages. The only thing I should be getting, is a message when someone subscribe to my lists.
I have on purpose made sure not to connect my account with facebook, because I do not want spotify to share my music-habits with Facebook nor my friends. That's private, thank you very much!
Please stop sending me these mails, and make sure that no-one is spammed whenever I do changes to my playlists, that they're not subscribing to.
(I primarily use spotify on OS X 10.8, but also windows and linux and mobile. )
Please also change the from-address to something@spotify.com or atleast @something.spotify.com.
I really thought I'd been tricked to signing in with my login-details on a fake site after reading the first messages in this thread. Especially since my settings already were unsubscribed to these.
oddbox - Seems you have two accounts. I've deleted the second one now. On your main account, you have set your notifications to get updates from playlists. You can change this on your Profile page.
Hello.
I get Email's from spotify that says sombody has added a new playlist, the problem is that the emails is not for my acc! I get the email's that another user shuld get.
How do i fix this ?
How did I get two accounts???
There seems to be alot of that going on here. Perhaps you should send people a warning about that?
Since I can still log in with my normal username and password, I assume that you've deleted the correct one.
But you say that I'm subscribed to updates from playlists on my main account, but that is not how I see it.
The only thing I've selected, is messages when people subscribe to my playlists.

I also get unwanted e-mails from Spotify "no-reply@news.spotifymail.com" about my FB-friends e.g. joining Spotify or editing their playlists I definitely don't subscribe to.
Inside the application(s) I get notifications of actions of users I have never heard of and whose playlists I do not subscribe to.
Yes, I have triplechecked all my settings, all notifications and emails are set off.
I have not connected my FB-account and my Spotify account, I'm logging in with "Spotify details".
I truly love Spotify, I think it is the best thing that has happened to mankind. But this spam is starting to get annoying. What can I do?
@Meduk @boalbert @oddbox @4ldrin
There is some sort of bug - that is why you are receiving emails about playlist updates, even thought you are not subscribed to the playlist. So far, none of the moderators are directly addressed this issue (which is how this entire thread got started - http://community.spotify.com/t5/Accounts-Subscriptions-and-Music/Unwanted-email/td-p/46737). For me, some of my Facebook friends have told me that they receive emails when I update my playlist. Personally, I find it hard to believe that Spotify is unaware of this issue. It's completely unacceptable that anyone other than your playlist subscribers would receive any email regarding said playlist. Perhaps Spotify has too much going on () to properly address this. Or, maybe this "bug" is actually a feature - something to help spread/market Spotify to others. Either way, it's ridiculous.
@hammeh
You escalated the entire thread then? @Meduk is not the only person experiencing this issue.
Hi everyone - Just wanted to say we're still here and keeping an eye on this thread. Reports of users receiving emails for playlists they aren't subscribed to is also being looked into.
When I have update, you'll also have an update.
Pleaset note that you can always manage your notifications settings within the Edit Profile page. If you no longer wanted to get emails, then just pop over here.
If you're getting updates from a playlist you're not subscribing to, please send us a note via the contact form.
The whole thread 😉
Hopefully someone will be able to offer some clarification on this.
They are mind readers the spotify staff!

@Meredith
Thank you for the followup - it's appreciated. I do want to clarify something: there are 2 types of people posting in this thread:
1. People who are receiving playlist update emails about playlists they are not subscribed to.
2. People (like me) who update their playlists, and then find out that people who are not subscribed to that playlist receive update emails.
People have also complained that they receive emails even when their settings are such that they should not receive emails.
@hammeh
While the response from @Meredith is very much so appreciated, and perhaps it's even an acknoledgement of the issue, it's definitely not clarification. To me, clarification would be explaining to us how email notifications are getting sent to anyone other than the subscribers to that playlist. The logic for controlling this scenario is pretty straight forward:
1. You have a Spotify user.
2. This user has a playlist. This playlist has subscribers.
3. When an update to the playlist has occured, the next step is to send out an email, but first...
4. That email needs to be prepared: what the email says, who the email comes from, who the email goes to, and so on.
5. When deciding who the email goes to, you query to get that playlists subscribers' email addresses. Perhaps the subscribers' email addresses are stored on Spotify. Or, perhaps you have to query FB to get those subscribers' email addresses (which wouldn't make sense, to me). Either way, though, you only have subscribers of that playlist to start with.
6. The email gets sent to that playlists subscribers.
So, even if Spotify has to pull in a playlist subscriber's email address from Facebook, for whatever reason, that doesn't explain how you would end up sending the notification email to anyone other than the subscribers. You build up the "to" list by grabbing that playlists' subscribers. Perhaps this is a collection of user ID's (or GUIDs, whatever) - regardless of what it is, it'll be a finite and specific list of users, each uniquly identifiable. Then you iterate over each of these unique identifiers, grabbing the associated email address for each. You end up with a 1-to-1 list of email addresses (1 email to each 1 ID).
The lack of clarification comes from this - how is it that such a simple, and frankly, elementery, process gets botched to the extent that emails are being sent to "random" Facebook friends of that user? And it's not fixed yet.
@pavy
Okay firstly, I just want to make a note that I don't work for Spotify, I'm just a community member like yourself so I can only go on what information I gather from the staff. 😉
As Meredith said this is being looked into, so all we can do is wait for the developers to push out a fix. I have to say that I have never recieved a notification email for any playlist I am not subscribed to, but maybe that is because I'm using a spotify and not a Facebook account.
This might be linked to another bug in the system that appears that when users unsubscribe from playlists, they are not unsubscribed from the email notifications. So anyone who accidentally pressed subscribe, even if they hit unsubscribe again they will continue to get emails.
The Facebook integration of spotify is somewhat of a mystery to me. It could be anything causing issues, users having multiple email addresses on Facebook, or it could be a simple bug in the system somewhere. As you can imagine it is a lot of code to dig through!

Jude -
I'm having the same exact issue as ChusZ. I've started receiving emails everytime a Facebook friend modifies their playlists. I've opted not to have any email alerts sent to me for any reason, but I get the same error message because Spotify says another account is registered with my email address. The weird thing is that I don't think I ever linked Spotify to Facebook. Can you help?
This issue is effecting my friends as well. Spotify, can you please advise us on what to do?
I think I have that double account problem too. Don't know how it happened, but my registered email is not the one I recieve the spam mails to. I have unchecked all the boxes on my profile page.
Can I inactivate the other account or how should I do to stop the current of mails into my inbox?
I don't think I pay for more accounts, it's just that I get emails sent to another one of my email-addresses, and I cannot stop them via my profile page.
