Username Shown Publicly when not Logged in

My Question or Issue

For privacy, I have my profile/display name set to random gibberish. My actual account name contains my real name, but my understanding is that is only visible to me and should never be public.

When viewing a playlist I contributed to a web browser, my account name is showing rather than my display name. My display name shows in the desktop client. I did have my username and my display name the same a while back, but I can't imagine it would take months to propagate this change.

Thanks for posting in the Community!

Your username is designed to identify you on Spotify, so you can't change it, however the display name could be changed regularly 🙂  More about the difference between username and display plus how to change it, you can read on here.

If this doesn't help, then we'd ask you for a screenshot or a link of such a playlist that you've contributed, so we can take a look an advise you better.
