Web player not working in Chrome

Web player not working in Chrome

Over the weekend the web UI stopped working for me in Chrome. I tried clearing the cache, but no help - all I ever get is a blank black screen when I log in at open.spotify.com. I have been using the search a lot, so my suspicion is that I am blacklisted somehow, but I can still use Spotify on other devices, or even on the same computer using Safari.

Could you please unblock me?

Hi @MikeEnRegalia

When you cleared your cache on Chrome, did you also clear cookies? Sometimes clearing both does the trick. I will provide instructions below, for redundancy.

Clearing your hosts file may help. Please follow these instructions.

1. Make sure you're on the newest version of Chrome. Click on the hamburger menu and go to Help > About Chrome.

Chrome will auto-update if there is one available.

2. Clear your browser's cache and cookies. On the sidebar, on the same update page, click on Privacy and security, and Clear browsing data,

Click on the advanced tab, and select Cookies, Cache, and Hosted app data with the time range set to all time.

3. Restart Chrome by clicking on the hamburger menu and clicking Exit.

Now, reopen the web player! 🙂

Thanks! Your tips are quite useful, I have since discovered that my problem was due to a misconfigured Chrome plugin which led to an invalid Authorization header being used. Sorry for the inconvenience, and thanks again!

Great! I'm glad you could get it figured out!
