So you've logged in with your Spotify username only to see your friend's Facebook picture and name in the top right hand corner. Now your listening history is on your friend's Facebook--what to do?
Not to worry. This can be fixed in a matter of seconds.
Head over to your Preferences Page within your desktop app: Edit > Preferences (in Windows) or Spotify > Preferences (in Mac)
From there select 'Disconnect from Facebook' under 'Social Network'. You'll know it's disconnected when the button changes to 'Connect to Facebook'.
If you'd like, you can then link to your own FB. That way this error can't happen again in the future 🙂

Hi Spotify Team,
That doesn't make any sense to assign a new Facebook account in order to "get rid" of the old one. A) As big as Spotify is becoming, I'm sure they have the monetary resources to dedicate to fixing this "bug" and B), simply give us the option to change our username or default to our email.
I don't want to link my Spotify to my Facebook. Someone used my iPad and linked their account and now that name shows up every darn time I log in and despite the efforts that you have outlined here, the problem remains. I shouldn't have to contact tech support to have YOU click a button when I can do the same. Tell Daniel Ek to devote some resources to making for a more user friendly experience and he might just do just that...
Can we please remove the username from my spotify? I have unlinked the account following the instructions given and even logged out and logged back in to no avail. Thanks for your time.

If you have disconnect from Facebook its a bit of a pain but a clean reinstallation will remove any left over Facebook data.

Hi Peter,
Did the clean install and same problem exists... At this point I've wasted 30+ minutes trying to fix this silly problem... So frustrated! Any other suggestions?

Do you have access to the desktop application?
If so can you try logging in their and check the preferences menu to make sure your account is actually disconnected from Facebook?

Hi Marrero1337,
I've had a look at your account and there doesn't appear to be a connection to Facebook. Are you certain you're logging in with your username and password?
If you're certain you're logging in to your original account and you're still seeing a connection to Facebook, please get in touch with Customer Support and they will look into this matter further for you.
Hi Jamie,
I have disconnected the Facebook account associated with my account, but the username in the upper right corner still has a name that isn't mine. When I click on profile, it does not give me the option to change that display name. It used to say my username (that I type in to login), now it shows the person's name that accidentally tried to link her Facebook account with her Spotify account. Despite removing that Facebook association, her name still persists whenever I log in.
Suggestions?
(I have done a clean install as well... didn't help)
Hi. I have just enter a premium code, but when I logged in, I put my nick and pass, but I don't know how I ended login with my wife facebook. How can I transfer the month suscription from her account to mine?
I suggest you submit an online contact form and someone at Spotify will look into this for you. If you get an automated reply, make sure to reply to it directly (even if it's from a no reply) and it will be sent to the Spotify staff.
I did it, but still no answer (only the automatic reply)
The customer service of Spotify is really bad I guess 😞
Hey Daniel,
Did you send a reply to the autoresponse?
If so, just let us know the case # and we'll get this chased up for you.
Yes, I did it.
My case is # 00804085
Thanks
I helped my mom create a spotify account last night, which she now loves! I was trying to show her the features of how you can find friends, see others playlists, etc and logged into my FB account on her Ipad (where she set up her account). It didn't appear that my FB login went through so I just continued to show her how to search for music and create playlists. Great!
Well, when I logged in this morning, my account was showing all of her playlists. When I checked with a friend to see what my account was showing on her spotify, all of my original playlists were still there but now that I've tried to disconnect FB from both my account and my mom's account,I can no longer log-in.
Is there a way that we can separate our accounts? And that I can access my playlists again?? Thank you!!

Hey! Welcome to the community 🙂
You will need to get in touch with the customer services team directly using the online contact form and they will be able to restore that for you. When you merged the accounts yours will have been temporarily lost in the system since your login details now point to your mum's account.
If you get an automated email reply back directing you to the community or help pages, you need to reply directly to that email (even if its from no-reply) and one of the customer services agents will get back to you as soon as possible.
