Wrong password while trying to cancel subscription

Hi,

 

Today I took a Spotify Trial for Unlimited, but I just want to sit out these 30 days without automatic renewal. So I wanted to cancel my subscription, but I get the message that my password is wrong... My password is absolutely right, but how am I supposed to cancel my subscription now?

Hi guys,

If you could first log out of Facebook, then try again.

If this fails, could you try going through a different internet browser. So, if you were using Internet Explorer, try Google Chrome.

I had this issue and to solve it I switched browser and made sure Facebook wasn't logged in, so it does work.

I signed up for a trial of Spotify Premium, and I tried to immediately cancel the recurring payment option. It asks for my password, and since I connected with Facebook, I entered my Facebook password. It tells me incorrect password. So I enter my email address for you to send me a reset password link. I still have not received that email. I am very frustrated, and I do not want to be charged for something that is not my fault

I had the exact same thing happen to me today.  I have decided that I no longer want the premium version and tried to cancel the subscription.  Through the verification process I entered my password and it told me it was incorrect and that is false.  I submitted a contact to Spotify to have someone respond.

 

If you have someone contact you with a fix, please let me know!

Thanks for your reply. One way or another, it worked, but it wasn't easy: while trying in Chrome (I was using FireFox before) I got redirected to Facebook and had to try three or four times, but continued to get an error message. While I gave up and went back to FireFox and refreshed my page there, I saw my subscription was cancelled one way or another. So it worked- but don't ask me how...

I was successful after  four attempts using Google Chrome.  Thanks for the response.

I want to cancel my spotify unlimited subscription but seem to be unable to. Each time I get to the point of cancellation and it says enter your password I do that but it says that it is incorrect, then when I try enter my email or username to get a new password it says your account is accessed via your facebook page so surely I just need to use my facebook password to cancel??? its driving me nuts, can someone point me in the right direction?

Hi Fairport65- I've just moved your post to this more relevant thread.

Have a look at the suggestions above. Changing your Internet browser and logging out of Facebook should solve this for you.

If not, please fill out our contact form (about us > contact).

I am having issues cancelling my subsciption.

 

When I go through all the steps to deactivate my account, it then asks me to provide my password. I have been logging in with Facebook this whole time so I provided my Facebook password. 

 

My Facebook password will not work. I even changed my Facebook password in my account settings and then put the new password into the prompt when Spotify asks for it and it still did not work. 

 

My subscription cancels in four days and I have no idea what to do.  I am just really confused and don't want to be charged again.

 

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Please try Sam's suggestions above to 1. change your browser and 2. log out of Facebook.

Thanks didn't see this topic, but it is a good fit.

 

Looks like the issue isn't presenting itself - Tried it and this time it directed me to FB to type in my pswd. Was able to unsubscribe.

I'm currently on a spotify premium membership for a month with the free trial. I don't really use it enough to warrant paying £9 a month and i'd like to cancel it, however when i go on to cancel it and it requests for you to enter your password it comes up saying incorrect password when i type it in? I've logged out and in many times checking my password is the correct one and it is, for some reason my hotmail i've registered my account to is blocked. Anyone know a way how i can cancel it? Thanks

P.S i've got my hotmail unblocked but i'm using facebook to sign into my spotify, when i request to change my password it says i should do it on facebook account settings?

I recommend checking out the troubleshooting steps above (changing your Internet browser and logging out of Facebook). Then head back to your subscription page and give that cancellation another try.

Hey Guys,

I had the exact incorrect password error you are experiencing.

My native browser is Internet Explorer.

I solved this by logging out of facebook on IE and downloading Safari (Apples web browser)

Then go directly to spotify's website and log into your spotify account,

then scroll to the bottom of the page and click on account -> manage subscription.

Then cancel your subscription and when it asks you to log into facebook,

just log in as normal and the incorrect password error should disappear.
