cannot login, cannot change password

I want to login on spotify (tried phone and desktop), my password is not recognized, so I want to reset it. I get the following message (dutch):

De gebruikersnaam of het e-mailadres dat je hebt opgegeven kan niet worden gekoppeld aan een actieve Spotify-account.

Which translates to my username or email address is not connected to an active Spotify account.

When I want to register it says the email address is already in use.

I used to have facebook account but deleted it, but I'm feeling certain I didn't use facebook to register for spotify. 

I really want my account with my main emai laddress to work, please help me.
