login doesn't work in app on older Mac

Setting up an older MacBook Air to be music/spotify machine. OS 10.12.6.

Spotify site doesn't work in its Safari or Chrome browsers. Fine. I downloaded the app.

Login fails. Says I've got the wrong PW/ID. 

I don't. I've tried a dozen times, quintuple checked that it's right. I just logged in w/ that pw/id on this (2025) Air.

If you're having troubles using Spotify on your device, you'll also need to make sure that particular device meets our minimum system requirements.

Unfortunately, if your device doesn't meet the minimum requirements, it won't be possible to use Spotify and access Spotify content through the Spotify app or troubleshoot it properly.
