switch from itunes payment to directly to spotify

I recently switched from an iphone to a Samsung phone. I had my Spotify subscription set up through itunes and no longer use itunes. If I cancel my subscription through itunes and create a new subscription directly through Spotify, do I lose all of my playlists that I have created over the last 5 years? I would really like to keep the same content.

Hey @Flounder2,

No, you will not lose any of your stuff when you cancel your subscription. The only thing that will be removed is the music that you made available offline, but of course, you can download it again when you've re-subscribed to Premium 🙂

Hope this helps!

Hi Maxim. Thanks for that answer! Just to double-confirm:

My fiancee wants to join the family plan I set up, but currently has Spotify Premium through iTunes. We know she can't join the family plan until she cancels directly w/ iTunes. When she does this, it's a for sure thing that she will not lose her years of playlists?

Also, from reading other threads, it seems that once she cancels iTunes, she must let that month finish out and the account expire before joining the family plan. Is that accurate?

Then once she clicks the link I sent her to join, how will Spotify know it's her (i.e. have all of her content)? Does she need to use the same login as iTunes?

Thank you so much for your help, it's critical for work that she not lose these playlists!

Courtney

Hey @Courtney86,

When cancelling a subscription, you do not lose any of your stuff (eg. saved music, playlists etc). The only thing that will be removed is the music that's been made available offline, but it can be downloaded again at anytime after upgrading back to Premium or joining a Premium for Family plan.

Yeah the info is correct, she has to wait until her current subscription via iTunes has ended before she can join the Premium for Family plan. She'll be then accepting the invite while being logged into her current/own Spotify account - It has nothing to do with her AppleID login details.

Hope this clears things up. 🙂
