ANDROID & BMW APP HELP!!!!

Can someone please help me understand why my brand new bmw and recently updated spotify, hate one another? More often than not, spotify doesn't even show up on my media list, even if I plug the phone in. On the slight chance that it does appear, I get maybe a song or 2 before it shuts off and disappears. It's driving me insane. Yes I have premium and yes I have done all updates out there. I've also gone through and disconnected my phone and reconnected again, and have restarted the phone ... NOTHING WORKS!! HELP!!
